CW: suicide

In one extreme case, officials at one installation told GAO investigators that "service members are responsible for cleaning biological waste that may remain in a barracks room after a suicide."

Critical support to the US military contract grift for bankrupting the nation while also providing absolutely nothing of value to any human being part of the US military industrial complex. Truly printing money and dumping it straight into a bonfire would be less wasteful.

When I was stationed in San Diego back in the 90s there was a barracks I lived in temporarily that we were told was supposed to be condemned for various reasons but was left open for years, as overflow. I don"t know if that was true, but I know you could tell when someone would flush a toilet in the building because a massive wave of cockroaches would emerge from the manhole cover behind the building, only to recede back in a few minutes later. We tried not to think of the physics of how many roaches must've been in there for that to be necessary.

Last, DOD needs to reexamine its policies about which service members are required to live in barracks, both because this problem will not be fixed overnight and because existing policies have led to a perception of inequity among junior enlisted service members

existing policies have led to a perception of inequity among junior enlisted

I remember going to a Bernie rally where some boot was convinced that North Korea chemtrailing their base in S. Korea was the reason he had a stroke.

    pessimism

Still kind of bugs me that Bernie made absolutely no mention of lgbt issues at that rally.

"Nonprofits help military families struggling with food, rent costs get back on track financially"? Sick, the government can turn out troops into even more squalor than they have been before and have their messes cleaned up by tax deductible donations and the rabid patriotism of the petit bourgeoise.

I remember back in the 80’s when I was a single sailor living in the barracks, our rooms were inspected on a weekly basis by the barracks chief and by the command every quarter. Looks like the new woke navy, just like all other woke institutions, are being destroyed.

It's the woke checks notes military officers and commanders that have let it get this way!

Just 6 years ago I know somebody that had a barracks inspection and was written up for the mold and insect infestation in their room. They gave up scrubbing it off just for it to grow back, so it spread and got worse and the commands answer was to punish that sailor. That person is so wrong, lmao
