craziest thing for me is it took the 9 year old 6 hours to figure it out, no offence to the kid but i feel like that's gotta be way behind the curve, further tests are needed i think.

Tbf to the kid, I can't think straight when I'm hungry either. Should have fed her from one can then let her figure out the next for dinner or something

        She was also, correctly, angry.

People who are just starting out with shit aren't good at critical thinking. How much experience with tools does she have to go off of when assessing a can opener? Probably not a lot. Couple that with not wanting to know more, and being hungry and who wants to closely inspect a fucking can opener?

Yeah it's terrible. I also can't really imagine what specific situation this is preparing for. If it's for now, the important skill to learn is how to find tutorials on youtube lol. If it's for some "apocalyptic future", it makes more sense to give her a knife........ and then drive her to the hospital if she cuts off her fingers I guess.

Honestly if I was the girl, by the end of the first hour I'd have snuck a phone and called my mom/another relative, sobbing lmao.

To be fair to her, if this is how he teaches her to use a can opener, she probably is really behind in other areas.

I imagine she hasn’t made it very far teaching herself how to read.

Also her dad called her stupid a lot in the tweets and I’m sure she’s internalized that.

Especially in the age of the internet. When I was 9 in the early/mid 2000s, even I knew I could look something up on the internet.

I think it's "My Brother My Brother and Me"

A podcast by 3 Brothers that's decently funny. I like some of their other projects more, like their YouTube series "Monster Factory."

Ahh, okay it is a podcast, never heard of them before. lol

But I actually might take a look at that YT series. Thanks!

The yt series is two of the brothers developing absurd creations in games with character creation mechanics. I don't know why, but it's the funniest fucking thing to me. Their humor and riffing is pretty good overall. Would recommend. One of the brothers also released a series of much more digestible videos called "Taste of Luxury" that was pretty funny too.

If you have time to kill, their stuff is a pretty decent way to kill it.

Cool, that sounds like fun, I have still 5 hours to waste working from home, so I guess that'll fill some of that then. Very good.

I’ve come to appreciate Griffin and Justin’s side projects (like monster factory) more than the podcast over time. Travis is kind of an annoying lib who does things like brag about being really good at working in “loss prevention” for Best Buy when he was young.

That's probably true. There was just a lot more content on r*ddit and it was easier to scroll. I must say I like the UI on this site though

Always feels so weird when my good-times-no-stakes podcasts and my no-fun-doom-times politics end up colliding like this.
