a-little-trolling People always say to me, they always say: 'Ms. TomboyShulk, aren't you a little harsh with these pre-emptive purges?' Folks, as you can–and you can see it quite clearly–quite clearly see with this rambunctious little imp, I'm just as harsh as I need to be; could stand to be a bit harsher, frankly.

trump-drenched Libs are calling posters banned by hexbear admins heros, I prefer posters who weren't banned. We love our admins and mods don't we folks, such beautiful and strong admins, unlike anything we've ever seen before! Not like those nasty lemmy libs, they have such bad opinions, just the worst let me tell you, they need to be banned and someone has to do it! a-little-trolling

On the one hand I no longer see any value in engaging with people like this and think we should defederate outright. On the other hand I see posts like this and realize we are this close to mentally breaking them and the completionist in me wants to see it through.

They'll defederate us anyway. I think it's funny to watch them go monkey. We're getting some real goobermancy that we otherwise don't see because Hexbear is only referenced a handful of times on other social media sites.

It’s an affectionate nickname for Hexbear. You might know that they behave like a bunch of 4channers

Ah yes. Hexbear, which automatically filters slurs, is just the same as 4chan, where the n-word is about as common as the word "the"

This is such a terminally-online debatebro tactic too, making this accusation.

People like Jordan Peterson and his fans will refuse make clear statements because they rely upon vague allusions (and dogwhistles, of course) so they can play at motte-and-bailey tactics; if you respond to their poor attempt at making a point they'll object because it wasn't "what they meant" but the moment you ask them to be more explicit about their statements they'll treat you like you are being a troll and that you're sealioning them.

Yesterday, I saw that with the "all governments do atrocities, actually" debate douche who refused to clarify, up or down, what that statement is supposed to imply except liberal nodding toward its vague wisdom.

So much of this shit is just piling on anyway. Like, what JBP says matters far less than the number of goons in the comments who will shout slurs at you for questioning his immaculate wisdom.

A comment section can break hard left or hard right entirely based on whether the readership is Peterson-pilled or not.

Exactly. The Audit podcast's takedown of PragerU really emphasizes how factual imprecision and "fuzzy" statements are an absolutely essential and insincere tool used to preempt any counterargument with "I didn't actually say that."

Have any of these people who hate this website so bad been posting screenshots where hexbear users are actually "distorting" or whatever they said? Are their instances full of screenshots from the mega where someone says the kulaks deserved it or something?

      CW

Typically they misrepresent heavily what people say, or make themselves be out to be victims. Like the US soldier who claimed he was attacked for stuff, but turns out people just said he was scum for serving in the imperialist military.

In this case however it seems to be both a bit misleading context and them not understanding that Carcosa was quoting from the linked article (since most people don't read linked sources):

The post with the screenshot: https://lemm.ee/post/9279694

The post in which Carcosa did post: https://lemmy.ml/post/5413589?scrollToComments=true

This is one of the comments in the thread Carcosa posted. Sounds for me like a bit of holocaust denial and implying Russia is committing an organized Nazi like genocide.

      @Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world
Hey families, come on over to our um… kids camp… and while you’re here, can you help us inspect our walk-in ovens? Does is smell like a gas leak in there?

That however isn't made out to be a problem by lemm.ee or lemmy.world users.

However equating Nazis with Russian officials is common:

Imagine if Goebbels told you, as a Jew that if you wanted your kids back all you had to do was travel to Berlin. Pinky promise! Of course you wouldn’t even give it a second to consider. You would know it was complete bullshit.

Which also ignores that plenty of parents did actually get together with their kids and died in camps together. Not only Janusz Korczak.

To contrast look at the thread in which the Italian state targets children of our LGBTQ* comrades and allies: https://lemmy.ml/post/3689846?scrollToComments=true

Again since political vocabulary is very limited or leading those things are not a problem for lemm.ee I do understand why Carcosa is quoting as much from the article (though ">" makes stuff more easy to read), but I disagree with their content. I do also understand that the fight to not trust Western propaganda against Russia during war times often leads to more correct takes. Still doesn't cancel out the fake news and organized propaganda by some lemm.ee users and alike.
