Because $460 million wasn't enough

He doesn't have a brain. His hair didn't fall out. It just grew inward. His head is full of damp hair and it smells like a wet dog in there.
That's fine. More cops then. Let's take "More cops" to its logical conclusion.
Let's implement the One Cop policy.
That is, One Cop for every man, woman, and child. A cop in every home. A cop to watch you while you sleep. Cops just hanging out in your living room while you and your family watch The Mandalorian. They can't watch though, they have to watch you. They're there to watch you. To make sure you don't do a crime. You and your family. And if you even think about doing a crime they'll shoot you in front of your children.
But then the cop's cop has to watch the cop while the cop watches you. And the cop's cop's cop has to watch too. So we're all just standing around copping each other and getting paid for it. It's cops all the way down.
Sounds great Matty when can we start?
I actually hate this man more than so many who are more harmful and dangerous. That he has standing and a platform is proof of a broken system or unjust cosmos.
If I had a gun with three bullets and I was locked in a room with him, Hitler, Thatcher, and Reagan, I would kneecap him twice and save the last shot to stop any attempt to provide medical attention or put him out of his misery.

These people didn't do their job, we can see them not doing their jobs. What do you suggest you do with people who fail at the one job they have so easily? Pay them more?
yglesias should have a warning like trump election posts but with a warning that"this take can smooth your brain by even looking at it", like PEOPLE DID NOT DEFUND THE POLICE THE POLICE HAD ALL THEIR TOYS AND FAILED and the take is WE SHOULD GIVE THE MORE!
like if anything the events of yesterday is evidence why what we should really do is push straight on past defund and just abolish the current police institution and put in something new and egalitarian from the ground up with better processes for operating.
It is completely clear that the police is compromised at a systemic level and giving them MORE weapons and MORE money is fucking asinine.
edit: I know that getting america to abolish the police is an impossible task I'm just saying... it's the right thing to do.
Like, no, i get it, what people should take from this is that they had all this fucking money and tech and failed because they did not want to do anything, which should be the point like WHY GIVE THEM MORE MONEY IF THE REASON THEY ARE FAILLING IS NOT A FINANCIAL PROBLEM BUT A INSTITUTIONAL ONE like matty is an asshole and one of the worst people on twitter but to look at this and think that the police is not deeply flawed is insane, like the bare minimum that should be done is a total police reform, but no matthew want the capitol to have snipers that will not be used next time something like this happens again
they had all this fucking money and tech and failed because they **did not want ** to do anything
preach lol
To fix the police would require a reform so thorough it may as well be abolished and substituted. There is reactionaryism at every level, it's really beyond saving how infected and decrepit it is as an institution.
I've been kettled and gassed by the fucking capitol police under an Obama administration. They have the means to stop shit like this, just not the interest in doing so.
Shove the entirety of the Capitol Police up your asshole until you choke to death, Matty, you fucking loser.
I mean unironically yes? Like if we took the money we spend on police and instead spent it building up an economy and culture of cooperation and mutual aid there wouldn't be fascists to storm the building?
I swear this guy shaves a layer off his brain every time he re-chromes his dome.
I could only imagine how much Matty boy was feeling himself as he was typing this out. He must think he's real slick.
I don't understand the issue you guys have with this tweet. Isn't he saying defund the police and invest in social workers? What's the problem?
He's being sarcastic here and mocking the arguments for defunding the police
I understand your confusion because he is sort of suggesting that defunding the police and investing in social services has already occurred and that led to the failure of the local police service to deal with the right wing protestors, when it obviously hasn't occurred and in fact better and more equitable social services would likely reduce the allure of the right.
I see, I guess I was ignoring the context of everything going on.
