Transphobia didn't suddenly happen. The problem is it's been a long-time issue here. Brigaders made it worse but you can't pin it completely on them.
You joke, but the whole reason I asked was my anxiety immediately kicked in and tried to convince me I was somehow upsetting everyone.
That is super fucking dumb no offense. Once you do that chapo will lose all its mainstream appeal and we will be preaching to the choir. Frankly this site crumbled to basic community college level infighting. Sadly once again the tankies were right should have just stayed on god damned r/socialism
This place was never going to have it, the "dirtbag left" attitude had appeal to the Reddit crowd, but the remaining people here really need to reconsider if that's the people that we want to be attracting. There's not really a path back to recreating the old sub. The question is what we as users want the community to evolve into next, and I'm kind of disappointed in the answer (from the community at large).
Silver Legion weren't fucking around, they actually killed the website. lmao
Wait, is silver legion just a reference to the historical fascist group, or is there like a group of trolls calling themselves the silver legion?
A real wrecker would pretend to be trans and ask someone else to troll him for a month. Noone here would survive cointelpro
Why is transphobia such a problem here when it wasn't such a problem in the old sub? Also I haven't seen any transphobia here at all but then again I don't look at new very often so it all gets deleted before I see it I guess
It's all in the modlog. It doesn't seem like an issue because nobody ever sees it. The modlog is filled to the brim with reactionary content. Sometimes the mod reasons for banning don't look great because there is so much bullshit to deal with.
Yeah I just found out about the modlog today and was looking through it. A lot of nasty stuff but totally unsurprising; of course there is going to be. Maybe we need more mods to deal with it so people don't get overwhelmed
Thinking about becoming a mod myself tbh. We could really use more mods rn.
Same, I'd be happy to just go through and delete transphobic/reactionary shit so that others don't have to see it
Can we just go back to telling trolls to post hog or is that insufficient now
Bummer. I still think used action is a necessary part of combatting trolls and brigades. It's not like the original sub didn't have any moderation involved. But it was the combined user swarm defense and mod bans that got the goods
I've been in a couple of forums over the years, and everytime I somehow miss any drama that takes place.
