Stupidpol is a CIA op. In fact, I’m almost positive the Chapo pod is as well. Ask yourself honestly, is the rabid anti-identity politics echoed by this faction helpful or harmful to the already fractured left in this country. They’ve turned false consciousness into a leftist purity test when MLs and other Marxist factions have never really ascribed to this faux-orthodoxy.

you're basically right but honestly it doesn't even need to be a CIA op, it could just be that, a group made of largely white males do not want to address intersectional problems and do want use a scapegoat like trans people to blame all their problems on and make the persecuted minority that they can have society unload all their "economic anxiety" on in their revolution with the trumpian proletariat

Sounds like they were one of the organizations (doing various Republican legal/PR shit) involved in the march, not quite "Google paid people to storm the Capitol". But this bit of involvement is pretty damning:

They paid for robocalls to encourage folks to march to the Capitol building to “stop the steal.” We all know what happened next.

“I’m calling for the Rule of Law Defense Fund with an important message,” the robocall stated, according to Documented. “The march to save America is tomorrow in Washington D.C. at the Ellipse in President’s Park between E St. and Constitution Avenue on the south side of the White House, with doors opening at 7:00 a.m. At 1:00 p.m., we will march to the Capitol building and call on Congress to stop the steal. We are hoping patriots like you will join us to continue to fight to protect the integrity of our elections. For more information, visit MarchtoSaveAmerica.com. This call is paid for and authorized by the Rule of Law Defense Fund, 202-796-5838.”

The RLDF directly receives money from RAGA, which uses the "lawless liberals" langauge itself. Corporations know exactly the kind of thing they're funding.

i live in an area where they're your literal only choice unless youre cool with internet 1/8th the speed for basically the same price.

We realize our service is more important than ever, given students are learning remotely and adults are working from home. Anyway, your next bill will reflect a slight change in which we charge you 25% more for the exact same service. God bless and thanks for choosing Comcast!

I’m in the internet utility industry and it’s only going to get worse. They and other massive corps just got billions in funding from the FCC through these RDOF and ReConnect programs to provide rural internet. It was a really fucked up and very American process. There’s nothing binding them to doing it successfully, and it’s entrenching monopolies over smaller local internet providers, driving them out. Nothing new there of course, but this year was like Prop 22 levels bad for the future of fiber internet development in underserviced areas. Oh plus Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite service got a ton of money too, over rural providers literally ready and able to provide fiber hookups. Pretty wild

yup the oligarchs in internet industry work super hard to lobby for their interest. They've had effective oligopolies for years. Before I lived where i live now, the only option for internet was suddenlink and they were somehow even worse than comcast but at least had the excusse of not being one of the biggest companies ever.

Shit really sucks for the future of the net if we don't nationalize it. :deeper-sadness:

Playing both sides, but it's pretty clear now they've chosen the Dems for this fascism cycle. They will not be punished.

Big Tech suddenly realized that they actually could take action against Trump... the day the Senate (and associated regulating committees) flipped and attorney generals started antitrust lawsuit against them.

When you look at the amounts politicians receive in lobbying in order to remain part of the oligarchy and throw working class people under the bus, it really doesn't seem like much. Like, low hundred thousands MAX

This seems a bit like bs. This feels like a weird rightwing argument. I don't think their was much funded or organised.

One of the many groups at the event was funded by a group funded by these corporations, it absolutely is a directly attributable thing.

Here's the website originally linked in the referenced tweet, seems to be ran by a few reporters the main one being an occasional contributor to the intercept. Other news outlets have been reporting the same things about the fund, here's an NBC article that even mentions Comcast (who own NBC) as a donor, https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/republican-ags-group-sent-robocalls-urging-march-capitol-n1253581

Yeah these companies where just doing their usual buttering up of random republican/democratic groups by throwing money at them. They weren't paying attention to what exactly they were up to

Not to white knight the companies or anything, but a lot of them donate to some political organization, and those organizaton(s) put money towards something like the rally.

Yeah that too, from what I saw they gave money to a republican attorneys group who then gave it to the protest organizers

It's almost like corporations like having their bases covered should one group or another come to power. I mean these same ones sans Koch and maybe Fox probably donate to the DNC. These are tiny investments for these companies, enough they hope to get in the good graces of the organizers and people with power so they don't treat them badly next time they're in power.
