Honestly that was my assumption as well. I've seen it happen on internet spaces for a long time. You see somebody hanging out long enough you finally just give them a job because nobody else is doing it and fuck it - they're already here.
I cant blame the mods, they need the hands. And I reckon Based would absolutely make a sincere request to be modded, as a bit, and the roll with it when it got reception.

I think you have to give people the benefit of the doubt on here, at least until proven otherwise. Anything less is a fast track to One True Leftist town.
They had some good bits, and they have alts. I hope they can bring more of the good bits to the table and cut out some of the obnoxious shit.

It was mocking a long-time user, @BrookeBaybee, who recently left (I think?) due to the influx of transphobia trolling. Brooke made a lot of "I love my trans comrades" posts over in !transenby_liberation@hexbear.net, which is what @BASED_BALL was making fun of in that post. She had been making those posts every day since the pronoun shitshow a few months ago as a show of solidarity. I'm sure B_B meant it as a joke, but it was really fucking tone-deaf and just exacerbated the shit that our trans users are already going through.
