I think it's a matter of degrees.
My brother-in-law is a shameless MAGA loser. But he's got a wife and kids who are genuinely good. He's the family's primary breadwinner. His politics suck, but sending him to jail would ruin the lives of his entire family. It would devastate my wife and father-in-law. And the kind of treatment he receives would be monstrous compared to the simple grudge I hold against him for having bad politics.
If he was the kind of person who deserved to go to jail, yeah, sure. Go for it. But if he's just some loud-mouthed asshole, sticking him in a concrete hole for years... that's not praxis. That's nightmarish.

We all should be ACAB in principle, but there are some situations where there's no alternative. When you hear crashing and screaming from your next door apartment and someone screams "call 911" out the window, what are you supposed to do? Pretend it isn't happening because fuck the cops?
We need to build alternate institutions because fuck the cops, but if someone needs help you should find the quickest way to get them help. If they need an ambulance and you need to talk to the cops to get one, well shit sucks but that's the world we live in. That's the world we need to change.
