Apparently there is some arcane rule (wow a shocker, I know) that lets you abolish the filibuster with a simple majority if you do it in the first week of a new congress, so that’s why people are saying things like “technically the dems could do x” or “we need to win the Georgia races (so that we have a majority)” of course there’s no way in hell that they’ll actually end the filibuster, so the dems will be able to say “we really wanted to help poor people but the republicans were so mean to us 🥺” for another two years
the procedural meme that's been floating around is budget reconciliation, which can bypass the filibuster for some budget legislation, subject to a bunch of arbitrary restrictions that nerds could probably tell you about.
