We love you and will miss you comrade.
sorosfootsoldier was like the first person I remember interacting with back when I joined in november and started recognizing their name. Always had pretty good takes and had good faith discussion. Model citizen. Godspeed comrade o7 :sankara-salute:
i think they’re dead broke and a lot of the financial talk felt alienating
I can see why it feels alienating but I'm sorry they feel that way. You can take it out on me, I guess, cause I've been talking a lot about it. I'm broke as well, so are half the people here who are discussing it.
Same boat. Broke as hell, but I like to watch this stuff. I can definitely see it being triggering to people though.
I don't think we shouldn't be able to discuss the market, but people bragging about their massive gains because they have money to blow can eat it.
but people bragging about their massive gains because they have money to blow can eat it.
whatever, the market is evil but I've reached a point where I'm tired of the smugness of some leftists.
" LMAO @ you guys actually working to get Bernie elected." Over the summer, it was some bullshit about BLM being an identity movement that's not going anywhere and not going to accomplish shit. Now it's laughing at redditors for being nerds who're doing something interesting
EDIT: Sorry, I went off before the edit.
Well I just hate people that have money in general, I'll fully admit I'm bitter/jealous though.
Still fucking hate 'em. I'm consistent with it.
I made a post and explained why I was worried about this, because it would harm and alienate ND comrades, and I was told over and over that I was wrong and this was too important
Cool.
Yeah not to mention how sinophopic and racist wsb is. Constant anti China nonsense to the point of banning people for posting in Chinese related subreddits and constant "wife's boyfriend" jokes.
it would be fun dunking on them for like a day. at least they would appreciate all the chinese economy good graphs, even if they dont admit it
Setting the other awful shit aside, am I cancelled for thinking cuckold jokes are funny in certain contexts? I know cucking the troops/fucking troop wives was a bit on /r/CTH a couple years back.
I mean that's funny but there is no denying the potential racial overlap/implication of cuckold humour on reddit, especially on a place like r/wsb. So it's all context dependent
True, the racist shit tends to result in unfunny versions of that kind of joke.
Yeah in the beginning I was memeing along in the wsb comm until someone asked me for stock advice and I noped the fuck out of that
At this point its not even WSB running this show its other hedge funds and foreign investors.
Like go make your money but its time to give up the idea that this is still a prole uprising
Yeah and for the love of all things that exist do not ask me for financial and stock advice. Like you might as well go to the casino at that point
yeah i deleted all my meme comments that could be taken as "advice". i literally know nothing
I miss you @SorosFootSoldier.
Ever since I read you'd left I've felt a little emptiness inside.
We're all worse off with you gone.
There's a big difference between building towards revolution and roasting marshmallows in the flame of a collapsing system. And it's not even the investing thing, I mean hell, I'm one of those few people fortunate to have a stable industrial job with a living wage and 4% 401k match. I understand that I live in a system where my meager retirement account (managed by fucking Blackrock) being turned to ash is a precondition of the revolution which is necessary.
I'm not upset that a bunch of madlads on Reddit might nuke the economy. Financialized capitalism is an economic system which begs to be exploited, and it is fun to watch the reactions of everyone in power when the *wrong" people end up exploiting it.
The thing is, at the end of the day this gamestonk fiasco isn't going to move the needle towards Communism and it has been grating to read so many takes implying that financial speculation is suddenly a revolutionary act. For fuck's sake, Obama's dogshit ACA health plan was a more equitable reform than a bunch of Reddit stonkbros getting their bag at the expense of a couple mediocre hedgefunds. "But Marx bought stock," Marx probably blasted rope too, but that didn't help bring us Communism either.
There are some teachable lessons in this thing, but we're missing our chance by jumping on the same hype train as Ben Shapiro, Elon Musk, Ted Cruz, and AOC.
Once in a while you can beat capital at their own game, but it was never our goal to play their game to begin with. The way this shit is going, were going to come out the other end with "thin green line" flags to comemorate the noble retail investors and their struggle against the tyranny of Robinhood and their assault on free market principles.
I've seen a few leftist types on Twitter unironically support this whole charade and even start latching on to a vague sense of libertarian populism. Money really does corrupt in the end.
Always appreciated him for being the most prolific reply guy on chapo.chat. I'll miss them
:deeper-sadness:
The dude joined among the first 100 users or something like that, yet I can't find him (with that name) in the discord that gave the early access
Bro come back I got salty and deleted me account once too but there's nothing good out there for you. Chapo is your traphouse and you know this. Even if people won't stfu about the stockmarket this week
Everyone HOLD
on for like a week until this stock market meme is dead. Sad to see it tearing the community apart, we have lost a prolific and great poster
Was surprised to see how actual mods here got swept up in it, and to be fair I'd be too if I had the cash to spare
one of the best posters on the site, if not the best poster on the site
:chavez-salute: godspeed comrade, wherever you are
I did unsub from it. But, if you browse by all it takes up the half the posts. If you post by subscribed and you're subscribed to main, you still get a heaping helping of stonks. I can kinda understand why people would get grumpy about it. I know trying to avoid it has seemed pretty futile for me. I have been ignoring/scrolling on by, but I am wondering how much content I'm missing because I just don't want to keep scrolling until I get past it all...
(note: all statistics are made up on the spot. Please don't hit me with any "well acktually it's only 42% of the front page)
I’m becoming less confident that the removal of downvotes was the best idea
I would hesitantly support bringing back downvotes for posts and even then only in some comms, but definitely not for comments. I'm still very firmly anti-downvotes for comments. They were toxic, hostile, and sectarian.
