We did an ok job here in Canada with $500/week for people who lost income due to covid

The first program lasted 28 weeks so you could get $2,000 for 4 weeks at a time.

Second program started right after it's $1,000 every 2 weeks, but a little more strict. You can only get 13 payments max from 26 periods so a few people will be out of options by the end of March unless they re-think the eligibility of something

In Ontario the government has totally fucked up the eviction process allowing mass evictions effectively without notice to appear in court

They don't think it's a self own, they think it shows leadership. The only way these people understand governance is by means testing or compromising with Republicans. They cannot think like normal humans, if they did they wouldn't be where they are.

that's a good bit. Libs using increasingly complex math to justify Biden's lies

Can't wait for my 1 cent check in March 2031, finally reaching a total stimulus of $1999.99. After which I will receive ceremonial fractional cent checks for the rest of my life.

Sounds like some of those Canadian treaties where they give out 5 dollars once a year to indigenous peoples rather than keep up with inflation.

People have been labeling him and Joshua 4 congress and shitting on his partner for buying a replacement keyboard base for her laptop when she worked for Joshua 4 congress.

It’s very online bullshit. It’s the stupidest thing, he’s an elected rep already.

      whatever happened to 5congress, anyways?

Has he just fucked off since that essential workers party failure, or is he still somewhere online insisting he is not a corn cob and that in fact it is all of us who were wrong about him?

Really don't understand this hate for him. No, he wasn't successful in his political attempt, and he may have had bad political instincts, but he did a million times better than I ever would have, while also dealing with his own autism. He's open about having done a bad job when he dipped off the face of the earth, and has now moved onto organizing truckers. How could we have anything but uncritical support for him at this stage?

The thread starts with implying he's a corn cob lmao.

All I'm saying is I don't understand the anger towards someone who felt they wanted to run for office on a principled and genuinely good platform. Maybe there's something he did that I missed? idk it just baffles me. He ran a campaign that was probably far too radical to get significant votes, but at least he tried. I would personally be very proud if I were him, but if I saw a bunch of hyper online redditors shitting on me for my failed attempt to change the country it'd be mad disheartening and depressing.

Anger? who is angry? not me once again.

I just thought he fell flat on his face in a funny way. That's all.

Go debate the fine points of hatred and anger and whatever with someone who actually feels those things for him, because so far none of this has anything to do with how I see him.

Even you acknowledge he cratered his campaign, and all I did was make a joke that while trying this good thing he will crater it by growing a trash union. And just because I don't think the same as you for some random nerd, I am now "hyper online and shitting on him".

Go off if you'd like, king, but trying to do so while colouring others as "hyper-online redditors" who hate the guy looks more like hyper-online redditism than me not thinking highly of Justin 4 Congress.

Like you could just say "actually idk if it's good to be joking about someone trying to do good things even if he's not the best" and I would totally agree with you and feel bad about my post.

But jumping to talk of hatred, anger, whatever, in those that think differently than you is a sign of being hyper-online itself.

“But if the designing of the future and the proclamation of ready-made solutions for all time is not our affair, then we realize all the more clearly what we have to accomplish in the present—I am speaking of a ruthless criticism of everything existing, ruthless in two senses: The criticism must not be afraid of its own conclusions, nor of conflict with the powers that be.”

I didn't really mean anything super dramatic by "anger," more like "pervasive resentment" but yeah fair. That's a good quote tho

No see, what I want is a wealthy person telling a hungry person whose suffering they caused, "actually sweatie this is how maths works isn't that neat i did a lil magic trick wow". There's no way that could be spun into sociopathic liberal paternalism.
