Look up "school fundraiser" on YouTube and just revel in the 50 ads at the top of the page. I wonder if the massive popularity of MLM scams can be directly attributed to these slave labor programs indoctrinating an entire generation with wealth gospel bullshit at a young age.
Its genuinely depressing to type this. We were assigned a box of shitty off brand chocolate bars, with like 50 of them inside. You're supposed to sell them for a dollar each or something like that, and any you don't sell by a certain date, you have to buy. This is what we have instead of tax funded education.
Fuck I had the off-brand candy bars too. I think I tried to do it for 1 year, then the other 3 my grandparents just paid for the box or whatever the minimum was.
Literally why? We had business management/enterprise modules where they made you set up a small business (e.g. bake sale) just to prove you could do it but why is sports making you sell stuff?
Meanwhile US high school sports literally deputize the students as door to door candy bar salesmen to get funding.
If we did good at those, we had a big event in the gym where the top sellers got to go in one of those wind tunnel money machines.
Looking back, it is very easy to understand why I believe that “death to amerika” cannot come soon enough

Hog merchant
Did you play a little ice cream truck jingle while announcing that you've got room temperature hams?
Please explain further so I can delve deeper into madness.

Then there were also the car washes.
I always just dipped on the day they handed out the choco after I got tricked the first time
