DEMS ARE LITERALLY A BETTER RESISTANCE TO THEMSELVES THAN REPUBLICANS
My efforts to slowly radicalize my libs family/friends includes stuff like this and asking them 'Why are Dems flirting with the idea of sending out checks to fewer people than Trump? It's just going to hurt them in elections later. Sometimes I wonder if the party wants to lose...'
Inch-by-inch they are detaching themselves from the party but God damn is it slow. They'll tune me out if I say 'Democracy doesn't exist in this country and Dems have worked with Republicans to immiserate you on purpose so their stock price goes up, and most importantly they cannot do anything else other than immiserate you because that is their job.'
Sometimes I wonder if the party wants to lose…’
Gotta make sure they know it's the ideology pushing them to be incompetent, otherwise they'll fall for a charismatic Obama 2.0 who "wants to win"
Oh absolutely, agree 100%. I'm trying to sneak that in with 'The party can't move left because it will mean less donor $$'. It's a two-pronged approach.
It really says something that conservatives, who openly despise poor people, were willing to just cut a check to pretty much everyone, but liberals can't even bring themselves to do the same thing.
If you're going to insist on means testing to make sure the right people get it, why not weed out people bringing home over 250k, the highest income bracket for taxes?
:agony-limitless:
They are begging for fascists to embrace the white welfare state position, and when they lose to those fascists they'll double down on horseshoe rhetoric and blame the left.
why is the party that caters so heavily to white suburbans doing something that will only lose them favor with white suburbans
Literally lower than Trumps. I got Trumps full stimulus but I actually won't get the Dems full stimulus. That's fucking hilarious to me.
They are not incompetent. They don't want people to have money. The fact they have managed to delay COVID relief checks three weeks already speaks to their competence.
I will not be surprised to see them delay these checks long enough for vaccines to be rolled out, then claim that relief checks are no longer needed.
Nothing compared to their Single-Payer promise made back in '94.
If you think about an elementary school teacher or a policeman making $60,000 a year
Where are they that school teachers are making even that much? Extremely out of touch with reality, but that's what I expect.
