This has "sell your drowning house to Aquaman" Ben Shapiro energy. Evacuate people in Gaza to WHERE?

It’s just an excuse to inflict further war crimes on the Palestinian population, now “justified”

They're telling the UN to evacuate, not for the UN to evacuate Palestinians. Bibi wants as few international "casualties" as possible. The west doesn't give a shit if it's Palestinians getting slaughtered, but once an "international peacekeeper" or bureaucrat gets killed, he's afraid the west will turn against Israel.

Edit: actually, I may have misread the article.

        No the article literally says

The Israeli Ministry of Defense and the IDF notified the UN just before midnight local time that Palestinians living north of Wadi Gaza should evacuate to the southern part of the Gaza Strip in the next 24 hours, according to UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric and another source with direct knowledge.

oh well, call it collateral damage, some stern words from some officials (mostly from the Global South), and then we all carry on like nothing happened

I think fairly soon quasi-official IDF and Israeli government messaging when the "wrong" people die - like UN observers - will basically basically boil down to "We regret the tragic loss of life but people die in war. And this a war that we must win..."

Apart from the Ben Shapiro Aquaman joke, I'm actually pretty distraught about this. A rogue nation state has committed war crime by collective punishment, cutting electricity, water, food, and critical humanitarian aid. Then they announced that they gonna kill thousands of innocent civilians in 24 hours super-villain twirling moustache style. Everyone knows people in Gaza cannot escape.

The world have like 20 hours to act to prevent an indiscriminate slaughter of civilians in blatant disregards of international law, yet noone does anything while a lot of supposed good guys democracies cheers and light up their landmarks with the flag of the completely rogue nation state.

    Fuck everything

I don't know if it's European guilt, or just bloodlust for brown people that let them allow this. Probably both. The times I have heared "they can defend themselves with any measure necessary" with the justification that the Holocaust happened, is mind boggling, and they don't seem to detect any grain of irony in their statement.

It is both, with some religious fundamentalism thrown in too, remember many evangelicals in the US think Israel will help bring the second coming.

it's not true that the good democracies are doing nothing. not at all.

they're busy banning every form of protest against this.

They're going to god damn slaughter them all, and the west will encourage them. I feel sick about this. They'll level the entire north, murder everyone in sight, and then tell the world it's fine because they were just hamas. While millions of people are forced into an increasingly tiny space without food, water electricity, healthcare and shelter. This is extermination.

Credit card companies can't process a transaction in 24 hours. But somehow it's reasonable to evacuate millions in a day? And to where? You built a fucking wall!

Israel has ethnic cleansing to do. So you better run or die, ppl. Sorry, but them's the breaks.

    A ghoul uses "ppl".

This will be hard for ppl to do, but glad Israel is giving civilians a heads up. Pretty much the opposite of what #Hamas did. Israel tells UN to evacuate the northern Gaza Strip within 24 hours.

There is the fig leaf for the slaughter of thousands.

"You will be able to return to Gaza only when another announcement permitting it is made," the IDF said.

Will happen just as Israel pulls back to the 74 borders I'm sure.

    From NYT

The Israeli order for evacuation of the northern half of Gaza is illegal under international law, the Norwegian Refugee Council, a relief organization, said in a statement, and would amount “to the war crime of forcible transfer.”

Ivan Karakashian from the organization’s Jerusalem office described the situation as “total chaos.” It is not safe to relocate as Israel continues its relentless bombardments, he said in a phone interview, and there are not enough shelters and medical resources in the south to support 1.2 million displaced people. “The majority of hospitals, already at a breaking point, happen to be in Gaza city and in the north,” he said. “Moving these patients is extremely dangerous. We are really worried about a humanitarian catastrophe.”

My country is supporting genocide vocally and monetarily, and there's nothing I can do about it. And me not being on board with that makes me a bad guy. People are losing their jobs for not being on board. Evil fascist country.
