Hi there! I've been considering this idea for some time, but I think we should begin this idea in earnest. The goal of this initiative is to bring more trans people to hexbear from spaces on reddit by posting /c/traa links to reddit. Why, you might ask? Well, let me break it down for you.

  1. Reddit as an organization is transphobic and has a history of not banning harassers of trans people.

  2. Hexbear is an extremely trans positive platform. I think Hexbear is a really unique place. It has more trans positive moderators and admins (20+ people contribute to banning transphobic content from /c/traa and hexbear at large) than any other similar space. Hexbear's population is already disproportionately trans, our last poll of the site had ~33% of all users declare themselves as trans. Over 50% of moderators and admins are trans.

  3. Trans people being harassed, doxxed, and attacked all the time on reddit is tiring at best. I think building a large space that is heavily moderated by many people is a rare opportunity for trans people on the internet. I am of the opinion that having such heavy moderation will help provide people with a good outlet to vent and avoid mental harm.

  4. Transgender people are largely anti-capitalist. They will fit in great on Hexbear.

Directions

To participate, create a link on /c/traa. Then, go to reddit and post the image from hexbear to a trans subreddit. After the post is published on reddit, link this thread in the comments.

Targets

We will first post trans related memes to https://www.reddit.com/r/LateStageGenderBinary/. Later, I will create new direction posts to expand our reach, but I would like to do a trial on a smaller (largely dead) community so we can see how many people we can get participating in this.

Scoreboard

As a fun little thing, the people who get the top 10 most upvotes on here and /r/LateStageGenderBinary combined will be listed here. It will also help us improve our metrics so we can reach more trans people very-smart

Concerns

Yes, this is brigading. No, we don't care. I believe we must protect the online trans community from harassers, and it is necessary to get people off reddit for that to happen.

Registration

For trans users who found this post on reddit, note that we have a semi-closed registration due to spammers (to be fixed in a later patch of lemmy). Answer the questions as normal, and mention Fishing for Friends

Now lets bring some more friends in transshork-happy cat-trans

It looks like the most recent post on LateStageGenderBinary is from almost 3 months ago. Probably a good place to start with.

Why was /r/traa2 not picked as a starting point? Just curious as I'm guessing LateStageGenderBinary may not generate much traffic.

Goal is to see how many people we can get going first then move on to larger things. If no one participated then we'll try something else
