You gotta listen to this guy
ZenzChalabi bro trust me bro he's telling the truthAhmed Chalabi was an iraqi exile and one of the main architects of the invasion of Iraq. He would lie to anyone who would listen about all the horrible things that Sadam Hussein was doing, and that he had weapons of mass destruction, and was throwing infants out of hospital windows or whatever. Vetting of his information from CIA/other intelligence sources found that he was a huge fucking liar and that nothing he said could be corroborated, and that he was clearly trying to topple Hussein as a power grab in Iraq.
But powerful people in the Bush administration liked the lies he was telling, so they kept distributing his lies as fact right up until after we invaded Iraq and oh whooooops there aren't any WMD's here who could have known, well aw shucks we're already here, so Chalabi do you want to run your own PMC outfit? have fun dude you're earned it
but at least he could claim, unlike zenz, that he fucking had been to iraq and spoke the damn language. If you want to hear more of his antics, he somehow appears in almost every episode of the Blowback podcast that Brendan James and Noah Kulwin did about the Iraq war
I never understood that motivation even as a kid growing up during this shit. Like we have wmds why is no one invading us?
Yes, actually I remember quite a few instances where things simple enough for me to understand as a child had to be “corrected” out of me and this was one of them. I was like “why is it ok for the US to have nukes but nobody else”? And my dad said it was because the US is good and those other countries are bad lol
Libs believe this unironically about the CIA. They think believing the CIA is the same thing as believing climatalogists w/r/t climate change. And they get that same sense of smugness and indignation when you suggest we shouldn't listen to the CIA about anything.
Every science channel or history channel show at some point will bring on a “former cia agent” to talk about shit, especially is the ussr comes up. Libs are hardwired to think authority figures on 100% correct on everything and they present the cia as such.
Hell if you go on Reddit and say some whacked out shit and put (source: I’m a biologist) or whatever under it you’ll get like 2000 upvotes before someone who actually knows finally calls you on your bullshit
They don't lie every single time: lsd really is a lot of fun and also good for figuring shit out.
I don't trust anything coming out f the CIA or official US government channels. However, I do trust this Aussie nerd kid with his amateur analysis of open source satellite data that really shows the destruction of cultural sites. The Chinese authorities are suppressing Uighur separatist movements, just like any other state would. If you think otherwise I don't trust your objectivity.
The whole point of it is so that you can check it yourself. If there's someting wrong with it, you as an internet denizen have the resources at your disposal to dispel and falsehoods they could be trying to propaganda out to people
Although with how balls-to-the-wall bat-shit hog-wild some people try to shove what otherwise would have been their anti-imperialism slider*, had it not checked out of this hotel and blasted off to the moon, I wonder if the CIA realizes those people will instantly drop any support for anyone they say so much as a kind word about, and take advantage of that to mislead and divert what should have been well-meaning leftists.
- I'm speaking of course of the type that determines who to support (And by support I think I really mean just posting nice thing on the internet about) in a conflict by looking at which side the USA is on and then automatically choosing the other side. Not sayin you can't use the check as an initial heuristic, but going on that alone say during the Suez Canal crisis would have led to some pretty damn imperialism.
