Lmao, they can't talk about Biden or else Democratic voters might get buyer's remorse if they realize they were sold a lie about things getting better.

You can't get buyer's remorse if you knew Biden was shit but felt forced into making that choice. I guarantee at least half of the habitual lesser-evilists have learned to abandon all hope and expect nothing good from their party ever again. There is only the obligation to retain a defensive posture to defeat the Republicans in a vain effort to prevent the acceleration of their immiseration, and a bitter, cynical contempt for the (typically younger, more progressive) "purity ponies" whose spirits haven't been broken yet and who dare to make demands from their captors from a position of weakness, demands which could raise people's expectations and jeopardize their purely defensive, harm-reductionist efforts.

Why do people keep saying the GOP is in shambles? It hasn't deviated one iota from it's purpose of keeping the country so riled up that they don't notice the unending transfer of wealth and power from the working to the ruling class. In what way has their ability to do this been diminished? Because things got a little kooky and some of their older party members got spooked? Because Donald Trump said Mitch McConnell is a saggy turd? The enormous reservoir of capital sitting behind the GOP hasn't blinked once during all this supposed upheaval.

Yes. They mean the party is divided more evenly between the pro-Trump and anti-Trump factions at the moment. Of course the GOP always gets their shit together in time to pass bills that benefit the ruling class at the people's expense, and to crush the Democrats like they almost always do. Dems are (intentionally) making the same miscalculation they made in 2009.

I do believe that that split exists, but I don't think it's nearly as big of a deal to Republicans as liberals are trying to make it out to be. The GOP had a slam dunk way of shutting Trump out of the political system by impeaching him, and they chose not to. I honestly believe that they just don't give a shit about whether he runs for president or not, because it doesn't make that much of a difference, given that their goal is mainly obstructing any sort of progress that might weaken the influence of capital. Biden is proof that you don't need a Republican president for that.

The schism is that the GOP leadership is badly tailing the radical energy of the party's mass base, who Trump embodies. They aren't "anti-Trump", but they disagree with him on certain specific positions and are willing to jettison him when he ceased being useful.

The mass base hate and distrust the party leadership, but since they literally believe the Democrats are satanic communist pedophiles they're not going to stop voting Republican. They might stay home in protest for one particular election, but two years later they will swallow their hatred of the reptiles and pull the lever for R again.

Its the divergent interests between the elites and the masses. The elites have an interest in maintain some level of stability and not raising the temperature beyond a certain degree. The masses don't give a shit about that and would love nothing more than a military coup that executes all their perceived enemies.

If narrowing the margin in the house and winning almost every senate race to the point that you’re essentially guaranteed to take back both chambers in the midterms isn’t shambles, I don’t know what is.

I was a Pod Save listener who was very angry at shit like this before I found the subreddit. For people who actually give a shit, the facade that liberalism serves social justice starts to crack when these contradictions pop up.

I was always a hate-listener, but what got me to finally shut them off was when they were blowing the CIA, MBS and Joe Biden in 2018. Even regular listeners were complaining on the sub about it and getting dismissed as brigaders from r/cth, which helped me find the sub lol

Holy shit it is not. The last election they barely lost the senate and won back more house seats. How fucking delusional are they

Liberals never learn. I think liberals are still high off their old 40 year house majority run during the 20th century (until Newt Grinchich came along to capitalize off of the disconent of the people to enrich business and punish poor people even more, liberals still seethe about Gringrich to this day).

If they keep screaming that enough maybe it’ll become true? Like the Aunty Donna skit where Mark keeps trying to go to sleep to pretend they didn’t just kill someone

Maybe its on purpose, since Trump will still drive ratings. However, if lib rot in the brain is any indication, this just shows the complete lack of foresight or hindsight that libs have. You can't simply just stop factoring in Trump because this is a monster that you played a huge part in creating, and he isn't going away soon.

Unless there's a real drive to look at the root causes of all this, libs are going to be stuck with tormented thoughts about how their exceptional country continues to be held prisoner by Trump and his acolytes, which is why there's real vitriol against his perceived supporters. Them having absolute contempt for a state like Texas and its people battling a public health crisis is indicative of this. Libs would love nothing more than to Thanos the problem if they could (why stop there, take the whole country out :sicko-yes: )

trump broke their brains. i mean, if you consider internet/social media addiction a real thing (it is) I don't think it's hard to draw a line correlating the need some folks have for perpetual outrage and the feeling of superiority that comes along with talking about trump. These people can't just quit him, it's almost all they've consumed for 5 years. I know some people are legit sick of that guy though, but there is still plenty of people who have twitter handles like, "DumpCheeto #BidenHarris" that still basically only interact with stuff about trump and that newish gun republican lady. He is not going away anytime soon. He will continue to go on Fox and say some bs at least twice a week and that news cycle isn't letting go of their cashcow. They both helped contribute to the monolith that is the trump brand.

Yeah I liked talking about Trump. Or at least laughing at his antics :(

Edit: I don’t (and this is very important) like talking about orange man bad tho, which is what pod save is probably doing

Pod Save is a commercial for the Democratic Party. They are as averse to talking about material conditions as CNN/MSNBC/the party itself. Most of their audience has not caught on to this because "material conditions" is not on their radar.

Dem rank-and-file voters are in for another cold, sober reminder that the party is their fair-weather friend, sympathetic to the shit they care about only when the party is out of power.

Neolib meltdown videos are still guaranteed in 2022 regardless. Dem voters either never learn, or they learn to behave like good hostages, mourning the defeats of their captors (which only keep them bound more tightly to the Dems).
