Lead blood level is even linked to neurodegenerative diseases like alzheimer's and parkinson's. Considering it was banned in the US in 1996, many people alive today have been breathing it for most of their time on Earth.

i think theories like this (as well as blaming fluoride, plastics, cell phone towers, whatever) underestimate the power and efficacy of ideology, even if they sometimes make medical sense. more destructive to people's understanding of their world than gasoline was television, and today, the internet.

I had Covid, it fucked with my brain haird, during it I barely could speak or remember things. Typically I know bullshit facts and am sure I could research and see why it is bullshit. However then I knew I wasn't able to judge and research at that moment. Was shitty and made me understand how full time workers who aren't the smartest can feel with all the propaganda they experience in their life.

Oh, I'm not suggesting that all problems ever are caused by this. Just wondering how much it rotted people's brains.

I don't think it's a huge effect, but I believe there was a subtle effect that skewed a lot of the trends towards eariler-age dementia.

Actually, the proportion of people developing dementia has been falling steadily since the phasing out of lead gasoline. It's obviously not the sole cause of neurodegenerative diseases, but it seems to play an outsized role. This article gives a good summary: https://neurosciencenews.com/dementia-lead-exposure-15332/amp/

Nah I rather spend my time wondering how many Einsteins died at the age of 5 because they were born into a starving African family with another 20 children and where humanity would be without capitalism.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit lately. Like it’s not solely responsible, but it could certainly tilt things towards conditions that reward aggression.

Yeah I'm not sure about that. These two don't have to cause one another, but they may be related via something else.

These things are absolutely related. There's mountains of studies on lead's effects on childhood development, and plenty of them are current since it's still an issue in areas with high poverty.

The inner city hospital I trained at had an entire analyzer dedicated to running basically non-stop lead assays on kids from public housing.
