Then again any sequel made 30 years later is bound to be a disaster.
Agree on Fury Road, but i'm so torn on BR2049 that i had to effortpost about it.
Visually it was very nice but I have a hard time taking anything Ryan Baby Goose is in seriously
I was successfully distracted from Ryan Gosling by the dope ass coat he was wearing, but the scenes with Jared Leto were unbearably cringe.
Accusations of being a sex perv aside, I think Leto is decent at playing a creepy weirdo, but that’s like the only character he can play. It’s probably at least in part because he likely is a creepy weirdo in real life.
I’m with you on some of the plot points not making any sense, and the movie does have a weird attitude towards artificial women. I would say I thought the scene where Ryan has sex with the prostitute bot and his hologram gf at the same time was thematically appropriate in that it was simultaneously sweet and sad, as is the whole movie.
Fury road is incredible and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.
Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say otherwise
Watched it yesterday. It’s a perfect film.
Hit that’s also because George Miller is fine chsngining Max tocbe whatever is needed at the time.
God bless dancing penguin man
I'm splitting hairs but Fury Road is more a remake / reboot than true sequel. Still an awesome movie though.
I assume it's some combination of the same exact jokes from the first movie but with one or two wryly inverted. The characters from the first movie reacting to iphones and Uber and all the stuff that wasn't around in the first movie. Some kind of new plot element that feels very out of place and a like a different movie at times. Half of the SNL cast. And just everyone looking badly de-aged with makeup to hide how old they are.
:surprised-pika:
Mad Max Fury Road is the exception that proves the rule here.
the cumming quadrilogy:
cumming on america
cumming 2 america
cumming in am3rica
cumming 4 america
Twin Peaks The Return, but I guess that's 25 years later.
Late comedy sequels just never work because whatever worked the first time will not be repeatable in anyway after like 5ish years. Comedy tastes just change so fast. As an example, I recently rewatched the first Austin Powers, which I used to love and still kinda do. But like Alec Baldwin's shitty Trump impression kinda ruined it for me because it made me realize his shitty Trump impression is just stolen from Dr Evil. Like the puckered lips stuff and hand gestures all just Dr Evil mannerisms.
