Not a hot take, but Will Ferrell was never leading man material. He was ever only funny in either an ensemble or as just a bit player.
They tried to make him Bill Murray, but he was always a Rick Moranis. Maybe a Dan Aykroyd

Never saw the movie but I do remember a brief push for calling "Jackie Moon!" when shooting for a solo cup in beer pong. Didn't last long.
I remember liking this one a lot when I was little, saw it recently and it was just so meh
