We have 3.5 years to build the left up as much as possible so that we don't all get murdered by the mask-off fascist who is elected after Biden.

Remember when Virgil tried to set up a Subr*ddit after the first episode but it got banned for r/CTH ban evasion lmao

It's pretty frustrating to listen to. It seems like after Bernie's campaign failed CTH had a general consensus that electoralism is a dead end, but Virgil has doubled down on it. I listed to a recent ep (because I'm a masochist) and it started with BJG talking about how the Royal Family bullshit matters and leftists who say they don't care are being performative. Then they had some SuccDem guest who was arguing that $15 min wage didn't happen because there weren't enough activists protesting. DC is on lockdown, where would they even protest? And that's assuming that politicians care about protests at all, especially the Manchins and Sinemas.

its because neither BJG or Virgil or most of their guests are on the ground, organizing around these issues. they have nothing to contribute to the discourse, because they have half information and arent applying it // all they do is use their platform to react to pop issues and theyre making about 15 k a month doing it // cant even be bothered to bring actual organizers on the show and seem more interested in showing off their celeb connections. tbh i am jealous they got to talk to ice cube though just from a pure "i grew up black in the 90s and wouldve loved to talk to ice cube" angle

Chapo is enjoyable because it is very funny

i'm sure there are many podcasts with "better" politics, but they are nearly all boring

BJG says "This is the sort of podcast you can talk to your mom about, compared to the uncouth chapo trap house." and like, lol. if that just doesn't sum it up. I'm paraphrasing but only a little bit.

One episode, they had Marianne Williamson on. And she said, "No matter what, vote for Biden! I'm with you, though! I'm going to vote for him, then the very next day be in the street holding him accountable." Now orb mommy is on twitter putzing around giving apologia for the ruling class, mostly in the way of remaining ignorant of all the fucked up shit Biden's doing.

I listened to a bit before the election and the most enjoyable parts were times when it seemed like both the hosts were on the verge of going "you know what, electoralism is a fuck, actually."

How long until they accept that only the most limited and basic forms of "social good" could ever come out of a bourgeoisie institution? And that such "social goods" will always be temporary as the greed of the ruling class reasserts itself?
