The fact that we had a president named Johnson who had a massive hog that he would whip out to win arguments is proof that our universe lives inside of a larger universe's Chapo bit.

The Soviets could have won the internet race too, but got stifled by petty rivalries.

Lindsay Ellis getting canceled over saying an incredibly bland disney movie lifts elements from Avatar instead of her very lib takes is some very 2021 shit.

The people who are currently mad would probably agree about her very lib takes. They care about Disney films after all.

like, id get it if she called an asian film avatar inspired. but its literally directed by a white and hispanic duo for Disney (a company that has key people who worked on ATLA in major positions). like if she wasn't addicted to lib posting, she could've just ignored it and it would've gone away

I feel like most of the people mad at her assume that Raya has mostly Asian American creative behind it. I've seen takes on Twitter saying that shes denigrating the accomplishments of asian Americans in Hollywood or something.

Literally all of the directors and producers for Raya are non asian and like 5/7 writers are non Asian too.

That's a real conversation that people should be having. Disney these days is producing these movies inspired by various poc cultures, and they bring on like, 1 or 2 people from that culture to be like tokens. Literally go and look at the IMDb for Moana, Soul or Coco. Look at writers, directors, producers. Mostly whites, 1 or 2 people from the culture depicted

I’d rather they just ask for it than ask to borrow it.

If you say borrow I tend to give more than I need with the expectation you’ll return so I can make rent and shit.

If you ask for it, I just give you what I can cuz it’s mutual aid.

I get screwed with the former.

I don't loan money to my friends. I help my friends, financially if that's what's up.

We shouldn't look at friendships with a transactional gaze; but it's also smart to think about your relationship with a person who asks for a loan, because that is how they are looking at their relationship with you.
