Unrelated to the actual video but the Wiphala flag (the rainbow squares) is awesome.

One really interesting thing that Evo did when he took power was to pass a new constitution that gave the Wiphala equal standing with the country's traditional tricolor. So you see it flying from public buildings alongside the other flag. This annoys racists to no end.

When the coup happened there were a few videos of cops/soliders (I can't remember) cutting it off of their uniforms.

Yep. They were shouting "somos republica!" because Evo also changed the official name of the country from the Republic of Bolivia to the Plurinational State of Bolivia to recognize the indigenous nations that claimed the land. This also pissed off the racists and ever since just about every right-wing party has made it a plank of their platform to change the name back because they can't tolerate any recognition of the indigenous peoples

I say Evo changed the name, actually it was part of a new constitution written by a constituent assembly that the country overwhelmingly passed in a referendum. Damn authoritarian socialists letting the people write and vote for their own constitution 😤😤😤

The base of the MAS has wanted justice for some time now, it's been one of their biggest complaints that it took this long. Word is they're waiting on a decision from the Inter-American Court of Human rights on Senkata/Sacaba to justify her sentence.

All the serious white guys in suits in western corporate-affiliated media tell us that the Bolivian government is pee pee poo poo, so all these people must be paid agents of Putin or China or something.

Whoever made this a featured post, huge thanks. I lurked the old Chapo subreddit, really nice to find a bunch of likeminded people here after dealing with idiots on twitter all day.

We're very much informed by the chapo mindset but try to cover latin american politics a bit more, we'll continue to share some stuff occasionally!

The sub was all over Bolivia and Venezuela while the coup was happening. I actually learned a lot about Bolivia from that...

I don't think I would've known as much about the coup without the chapo subreddit, what with the links to the audio clips of the opposition and everything else. Absolutely essential.

Are there any good sources in English for debunking the claims about Bolivia being authoritarian, the legal action against the coup lists being unfair, the courts being partisan, etc.?

Ollie Vargas is a good twitter follow. English-speaking journalist reporting from Bolivia. Everything he writes is good. Occasionally Grayzone will publish good stuff on Bolivia as well.
