We moved. Shitty solution not available to most people, but it worked.
Yeah. Without the management on your side, you're unfortunately in a position where the upstairs neighbor has a better ability to make your life hard than you do to them.
It fucking blows, we’ve had to move twice due to loud neighbors (one above, one on the other side of an extremely cheap wall).
It’s just one of the joyful “life lessons” you learn, like avoiding anything but the top floor of an apartment, if you can help it.
I’m sorry for you and your poor kitty OP :(
How do y'all deal with loud asshole neighbors
Offer them a butt plug
... Sorry couldn't resist
Idk what to tell you but i can offer my sympathies. Live out in the boonies and we have neighbors that are like, mind bogglingly obsessed with 4 wheelers. Literally ride then for hours every single night in the summer. They will then sit them up in their garage and work on them. Turning them on and bringing them to full throttle every 10-20 minutes. Even though they are about 1/4 to 1/2 a mile away they garage is pointed in such a way that is amplifies the sound and blast it directly toward our house. Its so loud you'd think they were right outside our window. They would be up till 2am with this shit. We had to repeatedly call and complain to local authorities for weeks before anything was done. Now they stop before it gets too late but its still every damn night. And thats just the 4 wheeler ppl. If its a nice day out theres a 95% chance most of the day will be filled with gunfire. And not little cheap ass 22s. These ppl probably spend a couple hundred dollars on ammo a week at the rate they fire. We had a dog that was scared to death by the constant fire. She eventually went mostly def and we think it was from the constant stress and loud noises. Also the 4th of July lasts for about a month out here. Its just another reason for me to hate that "holiday."
I laugh when ppl talk about wanting to like in the country and enjoy the "peace and quiet." lol. Theres nothing quiet about it.
Due to loud neighbours I have my noise cancelling earphones in for like half the day. I'm not even playing music most of the time, I just don't want to hear everyone else.
Hear me out: a bunch of those heavy duty command strips, mounting a smallish speaker facing directly up on the ceiling.
ladder with a pile of books on top until it wedges the subwoofer in place?
really wedge it? lmao
what kind of ceiling do you have? are you allowed to install stuff like shelves (aka drill a couple holes in a wall)
you could install a shelf that's just far enough below the ceiling to wedge the subwoofer? I'm sure there's some part of some wall in some room that's near the center of the overall floorplan. Better yet, if you know where their bed is, right underneath it
also by type I suppose I meant texture, as in there are like 3M sticky pads n stuff that could work depending on how big your sub is and the texture of your ceiling
yeah considering it's a machine designed to create vibrations that's a bit sketchy, but maybe if you also used a fuckload of duct tape AND the ladder...
:think-about-it:
I've been here before, if these people won't be reasoned with, then the only thing you can do is complain to the management office like every fucking time the neighbors are loud until the management office gets sick of you complaining and actually does something.
It really sucks but if my choices were a miserable existence in my own home through shitty neighbors or narc them out, the neighbors have left me no choice. Don't feel like you are a class traitor or anything for taking action, these people are inconsiderate shitheads. There are certain things you just don't do when you share a wall with someone else.
I sound like your neighbors :desolate: specifically, my roommate and her dog. Top floor, thin walls and floorboards. She has a very anxious and energetic dog she barely walks, and will throw the ball. Says she tries to keep it before 10 pm, but then 11, 12, 1 roll by and she's still throwing it, did dogs nails skittering across the faux hardwood floor, and I sit usually stoned and paranoid, sympathizing with how annoying that must be and unsure how to address what my roommate seems only marginally concerned dealing with.
I've tried walking the dog myself but she bit someone once and so outside late hours and snowy days, which she loves, I don't take her out for much any more than to the bathroom when my roommate's working.
The neighbors righteously suck though, hitting their floor when the guy under them was having loud sex at 8pm, yelling at the people gathered in a yard outside for hanging at 11pm pm on a Friday, and have had multiple angry notes stuck on their door for being shitty neighbors. They had been hitting our ceiling while we were throwing the ball in the early afternoon which if there's anytime to do it would be the time. That'd happened a bit, and that time I hit back, they came up, and after a heated conversation haven't knocked their ceiling and for a bit my roommate did better with timing of play. That was a year ago, back to late night play, neighbors play loud music and 'practice' dj sets, it's not great. They're apparently very bougie, have two newer and big cars and are paying month to month, so they could leave whenever. Whoever was there before then never complained to us but I've always felt quilty about it, I know I should set a limit on when my roommate's doing the one activity she does to entertain her dog, feels shitty though.
So, from one asshole neighbor, sorry 😞
Ooof, yeah, that does sound worse, she's a lighter dog, and we never wrestle
When my neighbors get loud I usually use it as en excuse to play loud guitar or something. I fortunately don't have anyone living under me though.
