Even when it comes to having babies, they're irrational. The most obvious way to encourage reproduction is to reduce the costs - one of the biggest anxieties everyone has with having a child is just the cost of having the baby delivered, nevermind years of childcare.
All that to say they don't have the foresight or rationality to see that as a solution.

At least thats what I'd like to believe. But most of them probably have consistent and rational beliefs in that what they truly seek is cruelty and enforcement of traditional hierarchical norms.
