I have tons of transbian fic but I realise now that I'm a bad person.

Like how people got tired of sad gay coming out stories, I guess I kind of avoided things that focus on early transition. The one I can think of is Being Emily by Rachel Gold which is an awful YA book I don't recommend. I have about 35 transbian novels n novellas, but basically all of them feature a protag who's been on estrogen for at least a while. I realise now that there's probably a lot of interest in the early-transition stuff.

This is why I'm the worst possible historian for this shit, because my cataloguing is influenced by my taste. To be fair to me though, looking over the list(35 read, about 40 unread) I can't really see any that cover that sorta thing, huh. I can make recs but not for that, sorry...

      It's okay. I don't want a sad story. I want something happy.

I'll take recs for whatever you think might cheer me up lea-smile

friend-visitor-3 all my training was for fucking NOTHING

Books that aren't totally depressing, uh maaaaybe Any Other City by Hazel Jane Plante? That one follows its trans riotgrrl protag through various stages of her 90s riotgrrl life which is cool I enjoyed it, uh...

The Weight of Living by MA Hinkle if dad passing away offscreen is fine, it deals with heavy topics but it's my personal favourite transfem romance, uh

That's all I fuckin got unless you like Lily Seabrooke novels. I look at the rest of my top 5 - The Last Girl Scout, Nevada, Little Blue Encyclopedia - and any of the other ones I like are either grim traumafests or just actual splatterpunk shit.

lea-breakdown the fuck is wrong with my brain

Just unfortunate that the genre of "books with trans girlkissers in" is almost universally depressing unless it's YA, y'know. Happy to help tho cat-trans

That's sad. I hope I can get to a place where that sounds entertaining, but right now I feel like I have enough sadness in real life madeline-sadeline

Any of it in fiction would just overwhelm me

                meow-hug

There's lot of beautiful & sweet books out there, like Little Blue Encyclopedia or Otros Valles or stuff, but they deal with heavy themes and/or are crushingly sad/wistful sometimes, so I can't recommend atm.

Unsurprisingly a lot of trans lady authors are also sad n depressed =)

there's a bunch of fic on scribblehub that might fit. a lot of them are more focused on eggs hatching than the transition itself, but there's some overlap

        here's one, here's another, here's a third one

idk how you'll like them but they have happy endings and are about transbians early on (including pre-transition). they're pretty ya in vibes

also if fanfic is ok lemme know because i have way more of that
