Similar to Snowy, I've wanted to get rid of it for as long as I can remember. I distinctly remember how happy I was when I learned it was okay for guys to shave there. I say go for it.
I don't know if it's off label(I think my IPL says don't use it down there), but I've had great success with an IPL in those areas. I also suck at a using razors, and they always make me break out horribly. So I've been using a one blade and wahl shaver shaper to keep things under control. The combo of shaving and IPL has been extremely effective.
