Pills are generally less effective because they have to be processed by the liver and taking a high enough dose for mono therapy to be viable would probably require an amount of pills that might not be great for the liver in the longrun.
I don't know anything about using them for monotherapy but estradiol pills are usually taken sublingually and don't do a liver pass.
Monotherapy would probably take a lot of pill dissolving lol.
Is this also true if I’m looking to have minimal physical effects? I’m effectively microdosing.
Monotherapy might not be possible if the dose of E isn't high enough to suppress the T. Depends on what you're going for, but my worry is that a lower mono dose would have little to no effect
