Xenia, the fox girl mascot of Linux, was first designed in 1996 by Alan Mackey. She was meant to be an alternative to Tux, the official mascot.

She had fallen into obscurity, but was noticed by a Twitter user in 2019 and was redrawn as a fox girl. But as it turned out, Xenia was originally meant to be male! The original creator, Alan, was cool with this, saying "It matches the transition of a lot of the smartest, nerdiest Linux users I know" and "And sure, you made her trans!".

So now we have a trans Linux mascot. And I think that's neat.

i paid for someone's hormones cuz i accidentally got a whole bunch of money because trump winning the election made my bitcoin stash skyrocket and the person was struggling to buy crypto and i just wanted them to have the thing

How do you do crypto? I always forget and a bunch of my friends may lose their hormones & healthcare

my general procedure is: -join a normal crypto trading market, with ID verification etc. it's annoying to verify but then ur sorted. -buy bitcoin -download a wallet such as electrum -transfer the crypto to yourself

paying for hrt on clearnet greymarket sites, which is the most typical route, is usually done in bitcoin. it's insecure, but it doesn't matter because E isn't controlled and no one really cares about T. like it's largely viewed as a bodybuilder steroid.

so if ur getting hormones from either a steroid site or an E seller, that's basically all

if u need to access the darknet, you are likely to need XMR rather than bitcoin. XMR is harder to get. in this situation, there are sites that will let u exchange bitcoin for XMR. you must make sure it's a site that doesn't take ur personal infos. tbh if u need darknet access message me cuz there is a whole lot of stuff i would need to explain, and it's unlikely u would need it for hormones.

EDIT: i forgot to mention, anyone looking for T who is not able to go through the process of buying online, literally just go to a gym and look for the steroid dealer. i don't go to gyms but i hear most of them have steroid dealers these days. but make sure u get testosterone and not other androgenic steroids because u want actual T. and personally i would feel more comfortable with online stuff because i feel more confident in purity etc. this part is just speculation, but at the very least with other drugs, online sales are much safer and purer than street stuff.

Also, in the Burgerreich, some other places, there are sketchy "Bitcoin ATMs" all over that don't require an ID, take cash

Had more written but, you know

oh yeah i used one of those my first time. i don't think they have them here but i lived in london at the time.

it's a good shout. i think i found the experience of going outside to be not worth it and just focused on obscuring the link between the legal bitcoin purchase and the darknet purchase. but other people go outside more than me so like yeah

The trading platforms work too, I've done the ID verification thing before too it's just a lot more frustrating and time consuming ime and you have to do it multiple times cuz trading platforms are always collapsing lol. Ofc what scares me about either way is the Bitcoin ledger being completely open and all transactions being visible cuz of... privacy concerns

Going from cryptocurrency-to-cryptocurrency on the sites is easier too ime, so if you have Bitcoin already you can have a lot more privacy if you choose to invest your money in Monero perhaps

i get mine from kraken, it's been around from a while. they actually do sell XMR, but not to europeans so i just get bitcoin there. yeah the ledger is a problem, but i only use bitcoin for hormones because like, they don't really care about them. for actual darknet purchases i convert the bitcoin to xmr which breaks the link. more fees of course, but it's extremely difficult for me to get XMR directly

they are fucked up but they're also how i access the majority of my healthcare like i would be happy if they are crushed by the revolution and i'm aware of the problems and libertarian hellscape they want to create with them but right now it's a fucking lifesaver for me

that first story is p funny, i hope u managed to double spend tho fucking coinbase. haven't used it in years

right now it's a fucking lifesaver for me

Yeahh, true, sry it wasn't my intent to say otherwise, ofc it has its positive aspects, like that is where I would go if I wanted to do HRT cuz doctors are usually just useless to me, took me ages to even find one willing to take me seriously and treat my ADHD and I don't think I have the spoons or especially the money to do that again for gender stuff and ofc reactionaries are trying to make it illegal anyway :/

For a while I was on antidepressants from the various Bitcoin clearnet pharmacies, but I had to withdraw cold turkey cuz package got stuck for way longer than I was prepared for :(

that first story is p funny, i hope u managed to double spend tho

I think I did lol, just cost me a lot extra

This was wrong time for polemic :/ I'm always doing that, sorry

no don't apologise, u did nothing wrong i'm fully on board with crypto hate. i just kinda think it might do a lot of harm to actually make it illegal without solving the problems that lead people to need to use it. particularly now that even more US trans people are gonna lose access.

yup, my adhd meds come that way too. unfortunately i can't afford the actual meds - but i actually get fewer side effect from just basic amphetamine so it's not really a problem.

having to get antidepressants like that is uh... kinda depressing. was talking to partner a while ago about if we should try and sell their old psychiatric meds since they came off them. they're nothing that people would wanna take recreationally but we figured it might be the only option for some people who actually need them. and yeah that sucks. i had a postage fuckup with my hormones recently and that was kinda bad, and i ended up taking some extremely expired, open vials of scraps i had lying around because it affected me so badly. it was a risk for sure, i have no problem taking expired meds but injections are something i'm much more cautious about. but it paid off, nothing bad happened.

One more step is make a backup of the wallet and keep it in cloud storage if you have any significant amount of money in it. With a strong password and 2FA on the cloud storage if possible, + a strong password on the wallet.

i have the wallet seeds for both bitcoin and xmr stored, which is enough for me thank u for bringing it up, people do lose their money so easily
