I hear you're SUPPOSED to not use your phone and shit in bed, and associate a deep reptile correlation between bed time and actually being in bed

in reality: haha wheee funny podcast haha hexbear in bed!!! haaha wheeeeeeeeeeeeee :big-cool:

      Use it to read

It'll take you a year to get through a book but you'll have read everything 3 times remembering where you fell asleep the last night

Melatonin is effective and gentle and makes me dream intensely. You can also be sure to buy the lowest dose available, since you can't really absorb more than a few mg at a time.

idk if it's the same for everyone, but whenever I take Melatonin I have a rather small ~ 10-15min window where i feel it kicking in and absolutely must do my best to sleep. If I don't stop reading/watching/listening or replaying dumb thoughts in my head when it kicks in, it's not like regular sleeping pills in that it "knocks you out." I really have to just distract my mind just enough to enter into a sleep state. This might seem obvious for some people but it took me awhile to really figure out how to effectively use it.

Oh yeah, definitely. My window is a little wider, but I have to put myself in sleep conditions for it to ease me into falling off, too. I usually put on a mildly interesting speedrun or let's play or something, but that's just because I associate someone talking quietly with it being ok to sleep.

I used to have serious trouble sleeping and I don't anymore. I know the specific changes that fixed my sleep, but I don't know what specifically was the most effective. All these things helped though:

    1. Stopped drinking coffee.

    2. Stopped vaping.

    3. Started working out and doing cardio every day.

    4. No longer work inconsistent dogshit hours.

rainsounds, and if you can't sleep after 30 minutes to an hour, get up and walk around, get a drink, read a book in another room, then try again

your bed is for sleeping, not for lying awake, that's the trick I've heard

On the opposite end of that I like sleeping in various places around my house.

I'm retired though, so I am always napping.

hell yeah falling asleep is the best! nothing like some rest after a hard day Here are u/cosecantphi's top 10 methods for falling asleep:

1: stay awake so long that you fall asleep without any conscious effort or input, usually gotta stay up for over 24 hours for this one

2: nearly overdose on tylenol pm and worry about the case of liver failure i'm gonna get one day as i drift into unconsciousness

I'm not completely sure how, but I can fall asleep in roughly a minute once my head hits the pillow, assuming all of the following conditions are satisfied:

    1. I'm at least somewhat tired.

    2. The temperature in the room is good - depending on how many blankets I have, between 60 and 68F.

    3. It's dark, the darker the better. I have blackout curtains.

    4. There is some kind of white noise, usually a fan or air conditioner.

    5. I'm not dirty or sweaty (usually I take a shower right before bed).

I think a big part of it is that I have ADHD-PI. I think a lot of people have anxious thoughts when they are trying to sleep but I just think of my hobbies or something and before I know it, I'm out. I also limit my time in bed to sleeping and fucking only, which helps a lot. It's like a Pavlovian response now where my brain starts closing shop immediately.

I use paradoxical intention. Victor Frankl talks about it in his book mans search for meaning. Basically you playfully tell yourself all the reasons you should get up in your head but don’t move at all.

I don’t know if this works for a lot of people my partner says he just ends up getting up and doing the thing lol.
