I feel confirmed in my prejudice about Disney nerds being creepy.

"I know several adults who looked around and decided not to buy," she remembered. "A Cuban immigrant who loved Disney was originally going to buy a house right next to ours, but on the day he came to check the city out he said no. He said everything being blank and sterile reminded him more of Cuba than a small town."

in America, every article contains anticommunist propaganda at no additional charge!

reminded him more of Cuba than a small town.

I love that this implies that there are no small towns in Cuba, and that in fact Cuba is actually one enormous sterile city

Thanks for the link. I didn't know Disney had secret trailer parks whose residents were coerced to vote in favour of Disney-friendly ordinances.

I know it's reactionary to make fun of people's appearances but this guy really does look like he wrote this article

i expect more neckbeard when someone complains about wokeness. entirely too clean shaven.

and the shirt is a little on the nose tbh, like he was wearing a beige sweater and the photographer thought that was boring, so they convinced him to put on the whateverthefuckthatis with its disney print theme

I'd really like to ask this chucklefuck what he thinks "wokeness" actually means.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that. This is truly the era of the adult son.

excessive military spending at the expense of everything else, and multiple industries entirely focused around propaganda.

Having the biggest war machinery and surveilance apparatus of all times certainly helps. And what props up those institutions? A giant propaganda machine that has always been aimed at turning Americans into a horde of constantly overspending, easily enraged chauvinist boot lickers willing to cheer on any atrocity their ruling class commits against other nations and against its own populace. Turns out that kind of propaganda completely rots your brain after a while.

Can we have a gulag for Disney adults? We'll put Disney movie posters and statues of Mickey Mouse in it so they'll be happy.

This is good journalism (the pic I mean, not the commentary of course). I guarantee you the photographer knew exactly what he was doing and they probably worked with the editor to create something without having to use words. They can't openly mock this guy or point out the obvious - that this is a manchild and we probably should take his "concerns" with a grain of salt. But they can set things up to where it's pretty easy to draw your own conclusions on this.

Not that I want to defend journalists at all, but I would get annoyed with libs who say "grrrr why don't these journalists call Trump a LIAR". Well because a good journalist will lay out all the pieces but they're not going to hold your hand and tell you what to think about them.

Yeah and look how well that has worked for an uninformed and (purposely kept) ignorant populace.

This is like when people say satire is effective critique of toxic masculinity or Capitalism, and then people praise and identify with Tyler Durden and cheer for the humans in Starship Troopers.

Maybe journalists should take a hard line and be explicit instead of pretending to be impartial.

Plenty of lib journalists do pretend to be impartial sure, and that's annoying. But there is actually journalistic skill in letting people make connections themselves, which I feel is pretty effective in getting to think about something differently.
