biden has inspired the most progressive generation of democrats to innovate upon his 3 strikes policy :big-cool:

kamala 2024: one strike and you're out! :top-cop:

I'm starting to think Yang is doing his best to throw the election.

This is very stupid but I don't think it's supposed to be stricter than the 3 strikes rule? The 3 strikes rule is about shipping you off to jail for doing something minor 3 times. I believe this is supposed to basically be a second chance rule for mentally ill people when they do something for which they would otherwise be immediately punished in some way.

Unless this policy follows some universal health care initiative that includes robust metal health services all the way down to the neighborhood community level, this is horribly horribly bad.

I don't disagree but it's not making it worse than the status quo, which is kind of implied here.

Two strikes and you go to a mental health institution that is underfunded, overcrowded, and will turn into a "well we gave them some free healthcare, so when the cops shot them after the third time it was totally their fault."

I know (hope) that the above sentence doesn't be come reality if Yang wins but... he's been pretty consistent about taking a decent idea and making it bad.

The status quo is that this happens the first time. That's what I mean.

Yea if we actually treated mental illness how it should be treated it would be like saying we are going to send the cops after you if you happen to get cancer more than once.

Like "oh ho, make sure you don't get sick again billy, you already had the flu once, get it again and there will be some serious repercussions. "

Yes but I think this is supposed to be somewhat better than the status quo, whereas changing the 3 strikes laws to 2 strikes laws would be worse because they are different things.

"Listen grandma, if you get cancer twice the police are legally obligated to beat you to death."

    Great fucking plan Andrew....

"So what we're going to do is have the cops create their own database of the poors and minorities that they don't like. Before, cops would have to pass around this information in the precinct to other cops by word of mouth. We need to be forward thinking and move race and class discrimination methods into the 21st century."

Even if he doesn't then eric adams will probably win which is basically just as bad if not worse
