Idk how anyone, even a Biden supporter, could watch this and not pick up them switching, without missing a beat, from "We're not going to follow poll numbers" to word salad starting with "We're going to follow the American people". They're almost as most as bad at PR as the Israelis. Laughable

the unspoken part of that is that "the american people" to them are just the military industrial complex and zionist settlers, the rest of us are just rabble

There's also corporate persons, the most important persons there are.

You could even point to people "doing it right," a deeply and profoundly flawed assumption, in a rich, white suburb with children and some white collar job. Even selecting among them those who are Democrats. I wonder how many of them aren't down for Palestinian genocide because it's disgusting or even just because it's expensive. Even if that is the American people to you and you only imagine yourself in a town hall in a country club with them, they'd still be looking at you sideways I bet. The American People (tm) has to be a set of 200 litetal uncanny valley ghouls

Yeah it's something like 80% of Democrats that want a ceasefire. That includes a ton of wealthy, class-disconnected people who just see no justification for wholesale slaughter

Every day I feel more vindicated in my decision never to vote for another democrat

I guess undermining the legitimacy of liberal democracy is still a step in the right direction.

Me, in 2020, stupid as hell and incredibly sexy: Trump is clearly the accelerationist candidate.

Me in 2023, wise and punished, soul shattered and a husk of a man, but still incredibly sexy: wow Brandon is opening up a 3rd front for WWIII maybe Trump is the harm reduction candidate

I feel like there’s a ready-made Vince McMahon reaction meme here:

Voting for Biden because he’s the harm-reduction candidate

Voting for Trump because he’s the accelerationist candidate

Voting for Trump because he’s the harm-reduction candidate

Voting for Biden because he’s the accelerationist candidate

Before I moved over here from lemmy world I got yelled at because I told them Biden is the accelerationist candidate

Prior to the last few weeks I think that would be a somewhat crank opinion outside far-left circles, but now I think it’s a perfectly defensible position. It would be a funny bit to go around lib communities talking about how Biden needs to be elected to accelerate the end of the American empire. “Guys, I’m on your side. Biden needs to be the candidate. Trump just doesn’t have what it takes to do the kind of damage that another Biden term would do. Biden 2024!”

I have the grim point of view that neo liberalism will simply encourage a more competent fascist to win election.

A republic that only rich white males could participate in. With a group of oligarchs (the senate) given permanent veto power. The window dressing has changed over the years, but the power dynamic has not.

And fuck Obama and his off-white smiley face mask stretched over the dead skull of imperialism.

It is at least slightly more honest now. But mainly because they were forced into that position, not because they tried to be honest to begin with.

All else aside, imagine knowing you were making a political decision so bad that you think pivoting to the economy is a good idea
