Since the "Rod of Iron Ministries" (an offshoot from the Unification Church) was founded in 2017, its grown, established fringe political alliances, and incorporated in at least 2 more states.

It's also become more extreme. And, church leaders were at the Capitol on January 6.

Recently one member of the Rod of Iron Ministries, aka Sanctuary Church, was arrested for allegedly attacking an MTA vehicle, and had a "kill list' in his car.

He's facing federal charges. Ex-church members say that incident should be a warning for whats to come.

Lol yeah I mean I've seen so much right wing shit about states or even general areas of the US secede to form their own governments. The media will be right there the whole way making it a spectacle. But it's also fitting in a sense that America was founded by puritans who were too extreme for England and other place so they came here. History has a way of repeating itself in many forms. These fundies are attempting to do it again but within the colony

I don’t think it’ll be guided by any sort of religious ideology though. Evangelical churches are so prone to ideological drift that I don’t think it will really look like Christianity, at least not in the traditional sense. It’ll still be used to create an in-group and out-group, but their theology will be so shallow they won’t stand for anything other than their own supremacy.

I think you're right when saying it isn't completely guided by religious ideological principles or the actual teaching/script. I do also think they will adopt or hijack a lot of Christian undertones, or just general religious/faith ideology. That is almost always present in cults or "sects" like this. There usually has to be a call to a higher power, whether it is a deity, God or a person themselves, they are typically key in this type of shit.

But the main guiding thing is a hatred of others, extreme paranoia and massive forms of what they believe is self preservation in the libertarian sense of huge selfishness

If I remember right, a lot of Jonestown victims actually were shot.

but moving on from being a fucking nerd, this is totally going to end the same way as Waco and I for one look forward to seeing how Joe Biden will justify it.

In the medium term, Waco is probably the best thing that's happened to the fringe right.

For the people not there yeah, it validated the right's feeling of persecution by the government. And the resulting public backlash deterred the government from further crackdowns on far right groups (along with Ruby Ridge)
