Somebody was posting in one of the general thread about how blackpilled some of these people are about the actual state and future of the US, and I think you can see that reflected in the constant attempts at infantilizing their opponents as material conditions in capitalism continue to deteriorate and radicalize people away from their ideology. They just get really butthurt and bitchy that people could ever think neoliberalism sucks ass.
I genuinely can't think of a bleaker ideology than "this is the best we can do and we shouldn't try anything else and you're a child if you think we should do anything different."
Being a liberal is fucking depressing. I used to be one, and it generally meant watching things get worse and worse without really understanding why or having any idea what could be done about it.

If he won, they'd complain. He lost, they kept complaining. He sticks around, they complain. He leaves, and Bernie would still be living rent free until the next "upstart" comes along.
They're mad because he didn't go away after he lost. Not only that, as long as him (and his ideas) are still around, they offer a more optimistic and compassionate worldview that takes the moral high ground from them.
They're just people with frustrations in other parts of their lives. They can't solve these problems, so anger-posting on the internet is a kind of therapy for them. It's not Sanders, it's their own shitty lives they're raging against. They feel better afterwards.

Honestly it describes US political engagement in general, and describes literally all of online politics. Everybody is basically impotent to affect the actual conditions of their society on a meaningful scale, so they're pissed off that more people don't agree with them, even if their beliefs are basically winning right now as the status quo, because they don't see that dominance reflected in people's actual beliefs and attitudes.
On top of that, I think even the neolibs can tell that all this shit is headed for a shake-up, and that means that the dominance of their ideology doesn't feel as secure as they would like.
