It's amazing how many female characters fall into one of these boxes — even protagonists

How stuff like this bleeds into real life is also fuckin buckwild to me. Like the actresses who played skylar white and cersei Lannister being treated like shit by fans. I guess this is particularly the “bitch wife” archetype but still

I remember there was an interview with her (and maybe footage of this happening but i may be misremembering) where she talks about how she’d be in a line with the other actors and actresses to sign people’s stuff and when they’d get to her they’d be like “not you!”

I agree tho, her performance was really good as well.

not even her performance, i maintain Cersei was not meaningfully worse than any of the other people fighting over the iron throne. she's even arguably better than most of them, shes competent as shit and you want someone competent in charge (if your trapped in a feudal fantasy world)

I feel like you could also make a 4x4 chart for the terrible male characters in these shows/books too. “How will ANTI-HERO DAD save DAMSEL WIFE from ETHNIC MINORITY VILLAIN and keep his relationship with BITCH SLUT secret? Find out on the next episode of TERRIBLE TV DRAMA!”

I believe you're infringing on Cumtown's copyright of the term "Bitch mom".

A real leftist would have said they don't recognize the existence of copyright. Better luck next time.

What about the best character, Virgin-Slut-Wife-Mom?

Bitch slut seems optimal for PvP and crazy mom for PvE. Virgin damsel if you would rather be a support with a spot always available for raids. I don't see much utility in specing into dead.

    S TIER

    BITCH

VIRGIN, SLUT, WIFE, MOM (All women are queens)

    A TIER

    CRAZY

    B TIER

    C TIER

    DAMSEL

    D TIER

    F TIER

A character is killed off in a particularly gruesome manner and left to be found just to offend or insult someone, or to cause someone serious anguish. The usual victims are those who matter to the hero, specifically best buddies, love interests, and sidekicks.

Brutally killed off for the sake of the protagonist's character development

I’ve only watched the first season, but I think she’s a pretty textbook example of bitch wife.

Her feelings and desires get in the way of letting the protagonist do cool crime stuff so that makes her terrible. Similar to Skylar in Breaking Bad, although I think Edie Falco does a better job playing that kind of character.

She's a woman, she's automatically considered to be in the insane category no matter how reasonable she is.

Staying in a relationship with Tony, I feel is a good enough reason to call her crazy

I mean... no, they can just be their own people with their own motivations who aren't strictly defined by their relationship to men... but also yes
