Okay, um so in the last few years, anime became real through digital puppeteering. One idol group? House? Company? had a breakout star with a foul-mouthed dragon who recently announced her retirement.
With every poorly pronounced profanity, her legacy lives on
Let me get you sorted.
- Kiryu Coco
- Houshou Marine
- Takanashi Kiara
- Projekt Melody
Well, I looked up the first one and I got a virtual anime lady with massive virtual titties saying she was retiring so I think that's the one you were talking about.
I like vtubers more for the light-hearted and funny vibes and find the fanbase's endless fixation on boobs and general horniness tiring
"boin boin pettan oppai flat pantsu" x993293129143 epic comedy, not to mention the constant gags about "lolis" and "shotas" :libertarian-alert:
You could maybe try having being explicitly left-wing as part of your character but I think "political vtuber" is a can of worms best left unopened
You know it'll just be a blonde anime lady in an SS outfit
Dammit, you gave the game away
I’ve dropped out on following vtubers after about a month. The cute ones are cute, but pandering to uncreative internet hornyness?
Boing boing?
:pain:
I get the horny stuff a big part of the culture and that many of the streamers lean into it and have fun with it, but as an outsider to anime fandom I don't care for that specific aspect
Normally when someone leaves Hololive under bad circumstances their YouTube archive is completely purged. That is not happening with hers which is why I believe she is leaving under her own terms.
The fact that I understood every reference in this image should be concerning to me
They didn't tell me this was going to happen when I clicked on a video of some anime streamer playing GTA last year
This Kelly homage is riffing on Hololive, which is a virtual youtuber (streamers with anime avatars) agency/company. The girl behind the glass is a Japanese-American streamer who likes to teach English curse words and Internet slang to her Japanese colleagues who in turn like repeating them because they think they sound cool. The CEO and the third character playing the Kelly role here (another streamer) are lamenting the damage being done to the company's supposedly family-friendly image
it hit me hard to, to know every part of what should be a nonsense image fit immediately into my head as simply as being told what is for dinner.
one of the anime girls got fired from being an anime girl
A VTuber is a virtual YouTuber.
:wat:
“The reason involves a lot of things I can’t talk about,” Coco, who appears at times in the form of a dragon, said in a video posted to her channel.
:what:
I really do not think she got fired. I think she is at the end of her contract and got a better offer. Its my belief that the manager for part of HoloEN Gen2 came up so she took it. We really do not know why she is going to stop streaming because its written into their contract they cannot talk about this stuff.
She has a huge attachment to her current persona. There is a whole lotta baggage there. It would be hard for me to leave behind too even if it was for something better. She really does not make a lot of money off of streaming because she is not a Japanese citizen. She gets taxed a whole lot because of that.
okay, we need someone here to become a vtuber and salt hololive
I don't get it either but "sei it ain't so" is brilliant on its own merits
“sei it ain’t so”
Its even better because it is actually a play on words for Seiso which means pure in vtuber lingo.
This is the least comprehensible thing I have ever seen
completely unraveled my understanding and also awakened something in me so thanks
I think the weirdest part of this for me is that v-tubers are this familiar with the Kelly format.
I think vtubers are part of anime in the twitter avatar horseshoe theory meme picture.
Yeah, I imagine it's a coin toss whether or not a vtuber fan is into Kelly or Stonetoss
I was informed thisnis related to bribers somehow so here you go
:duck-dance: :duck-dance: :duck-dance: :duck-dance: :duck-dance:
In addition to the other response said, the use of seiso here is funnier because Ina(who is depicted here as the cartoonist and delivers the line) proclaimed "I'm seiso because I say so."
I forgot about that, the layers to this comic never end
Seiso (say-so) means like pure or clean in Japanese. In the Vtuber community it is used to mean wholesome. So an idol saying "motherfucker" is definitely not seiso
Guess I'm officially an old person because I don't understand ANY of this AT ALL
The whole thing feels super astroturfed to me - like I get that people legitimately like it but they don't seem so much better or more novel than other streamers that they would explode out of nowhere like they did.
Virtual youtubers are a whole new media from your average streamer and they are not the same to me. Its like the differences between pro wrestling and your standard wrestling you would see in like the Olympics. For pro wrestling the actors hide behind a persona sometimes complete with backstories that they take on. This is just like talent from Hololive and other vtubers who do the same thing. In standard competition wrestling you find just normal people who need no persona just like in the case of your average streamer. They are out there being themselves sometimes with face cams to complete them. Sure they might have persona's but they are not completely hidden from the world. Compare that to the vtubers whose voice actors are unknown to me. They can leverage that to stay anonymous using their persona they have built up. You wont find that often in other genres of entertainment. That is why its not astroturfed to me and entertaining in a way that normal streamers are not.
Sorry if I got into a bit of a rant there this is something of a passion of mine.
Streaming is already mildly cringe, streaming plus mocap anime idol bullshit is extremely cringe
