SOME BELIEFS ARE TRUE AND SOME BELIEFS ARE FALSE!!!! ACCEPTING EVERY BELIEF AS A SIMPLE "OPINION" IS IDEOLOGICAL NIHILISM, AND ONLY BENEFITS THOSE IN POWER

I mean, I do the same fairly frequently

Sometimes, you just need other people to know that you are yelling at your phone because you have suffered psychic damage from an ABSOLUTELY SHIT-TIER TAKE

Sometimes it's necessary! "Civility" is just another word for "passiveness" and not all arguments deserve to be given respect

Also, saying Marxist ideology, which is entirely built on the material foundations of contradiction between worldviews is opposed to other ways of thinking is serious brainworms.

In many ways Marxism is the real "marketplace of ideas" because we allow ideas to be destroyed and transformed via conflict with other ideas.

But "Marxism" to them isn't a coherent ideology, to them it's a catch all for people who think that hate speech is bad.

This isn't even true, liberals believe in their one view so fucking much they invade countries to institute "regime change" and force it on everyone else.

In their wildest power fantasies, Liberals imagine themselves winning 50.1% of the vote, and even that they feel bad about because wanting to win is vulgar.

It's a balancing act. You need 50%+1 to be in power, but anywhere beyond 50%+2 means there are people you could be selling out for more bribes and you're leaving money on the table.

Libs are absolutely convinced that a number higher than 60% means that the election was faked. Americans are so frequently and thoroughly screwed by our own government that we reject any pretense that it's possible for one to do good things or be liked by its citizenry.

Because money facilitates marketing and marketing builds consensus.

The logical flaw is assuming your money holds a candle to a guy like Bill Gates, who literally owns a cable news channel. Ultimately, you can't simply spend yourself into relevancy if you're not a billionaire.

Shit like this really pisses me off. Like okay libs if you wanna be ghouls then be ghouls fine, but stop acting as if you're so accepting and accomodating of ideas other than you're own. These are the same people who lost their minds when Bernie was campaigning but sure Marxists are the ones who "have a tendency to see their own view of the world as the only valid one."

Ridiculous that the media goes along with calling her a "historian". She is a journalist. Her background is in journalism, not history, and it shows. But she likes to call herself a historian and no one questions it. Actual historians like Kotkin and Tauger have dunked on her Ukrainian famine book. And most people who are not historians but talk history (like Mike Duncan and Dan Carlin) will always emphasize the fact that they are not historians. Because they respect the work the actual historians do.

Reminder that Anne Applebaum began following Felix when he was doing the "vote face" bit last year.
