The natural conclusion of both beliefs, either that climate change isn't real or that we can't do anything about it, is to not do anything about it.
Tbh Doomerism is a dogshit word for it, just call it climate despair or something real that can actually be said around other people without coming off as if you came from another planet.
Like I cant take anything seriously if the name its given is taken from a 4chan meme, it just instantly registers in my brain as "Oh this is literally nothing if you just log off".
This tweet thread doesn’t inspire me much. Yes doomer-is is a form of denialism. It’s satisfying to see some fossil fuel companies lose some legal challenges.
But in a more general sense, people are unwilling to grapple with the severity of the climate crisis. Any plan that could be accomplished within the current paradigm seems likely to bring countless deaths and mass extinction. I cannot find solace in whatever concessions we will win from a system that was built with fossil fuel as a pillar of it, administered by the worst people on the planet.

"We can't do anything about climate" and "we're already locked into climate apocalypse" are horseshit lies that are contradicted both by climate science and human history. It is objectively false and only serves to further fossil fuel extractors' goals.
We can win.
