Parenti would agree tbh. He thanks Chomsky in the acknowledgements section of Inventing Reality and even when he dunks on him in Blackshirts and Reds he calls him "some of the best and brightest on the left"

Yupppp it says a lot when the I tellevtuals of the left don’t really give into the factionalism. But what TF do I know I’m just a weirdo big tent guy.

            Noooo! You have to choose!

People must be ideal, they can't merely be good.

Whaaat your saying that we can condemn and critique the failures of past socialist leaders and thinkers. This allowing learn from their actions going forward to be better instead of just meming or justifying shit decisions? That’s crazy!

I'm not a Chomsky fan in general, but that is unironically one of the cooler and more communist things a person can do. Just treating people like people.

Edit: it's also a nice throwback to how philosophy used to be / should be. open exchange of ideas.

From his recent looks I suspect he's become an Ent; as protectors of the forest, they're close to immortal I think. Just don't let him stand on fertile ground for too long.

If I remember correctly from the Bad Faith interview, his take was basically you can’t achieve anything that needs to be achieved through electoralism and the US under Biden is less hostile to activism than under Trump.

Kinda got stuck on voting just taking 10 minutes though.

His daughter also wrote 2 books on Cuba that get updated sometimes. Pretty decent histories on the island. Not much about Che or Fidel though.
