Wonder why some snakes like this one have much more "defined" (for lack of a better term) scales than others.

It's a characteristic of vipers meant as a warning display. They do look scary af too

well certain snakes lack the conviction to have angular, more detailed scales

Scales are a seperate layer than their skin. I can't really explain it well. But the scales are extra armor for their particular environment. I dunno enough veteranary medicine to know what those kinda sales correlate with but I figure it'd be

They're made with keratin like our hair and nails. I think the roughness or smoothness is part genetic and part environmental. Plus they come out smoother after shedding their skin.

It was a vice thing right? When vice was still decent? He’d inject himself with small amounts of snake venom every day to build a tolerance to it. Over did it a couple of times and had to go to the hospital. Weird fuckin guy.

Oh shit I found it, dude is fuckin based too. Wears a cool af shirt in the doc with evo, Fidel and the gang on it.here’s a link if anyone wants to watch it

thing with vice is they stumble ass backwards into cool stories and interesting journalism.

They still produce intriguing things but with an expanded budget they throw way more shit at the wall and end up with a lower hit rate cause, well, again, they have no idea what they’re doing

the Mithridates name is a reference to a story about a Greek king who was afraid of being poisoned, so he always took small amounts of poison until he was immune. Eventually he was (defeated or captured, I don't recall) and wanted to commit suicide, but he was unable to poison himself.

You won't catch covid if you're dead from viper bites.
