I truly hate Fall of Rome analogies, but this is really like how the soldiers became super entitled and shit, and basically went rogue to which ever general was strongest.

Modern American Generals are basically lower executives at a Fortune 500 company. I literally can't imagine any of them declaring themselves the next Caesar, much less a sizeable number of troops declaring their fealty to them.

I don't really know many current generals that are remotely popular with their soldiers to mobilize them on their behalf since generals tend to be more on the administrative side than strategic side nowadays.

Now if you ask me if a few hoggish Colonel or Captains could mobilize their troops to do something dumb I'd say hell yeah, let the 30-50 hogs go wild

This I feel is more in line with the Praetorian guard starting to basically be loyal to the highest payer and looking out for themselves more than the empire. I don't think this is evidence of an anti-vax fifth column in the military. Just some cranks for now, who knows about the future? Also wasn't there some general or officer mad about the Afghan withdrawal, or am I just making something up in my head.

Multiple days of mandatory shots/surgeries and a repertoire of marching cadences about being killed for the decision they just made. Of all the antivaxxers I think these might be the most pathetic ones. The Chinese aren't going to be shooting kisses and rainbows at your little lordship's F-22. It's things that will hurt you even more than whatever could be in one more vaccine. What an absolute liability to any kind of group, let alone one that they claim is the spearpoint of the empire.

The Chinese aren’t going to be shooting kisses and rainbows at your little lordship’s F-22

Most of these people unironically think Chinese people are stone age savages who will throw rocks at the sky in response to an invasion before stealing the blueprints to an F22 and then promptly crashing because "Chinese people can't drive"

I genuinely think the US is going to be in for a hell of a surprise if fights a war against an industrialized power again, it seems like in Afghanistan they would get pinned down and then just airstrike people who can't do anything back, what are they gonna do when others do the exact same thing

With as hard as they run 7th Fleet, I can't imagine it surviving a first encounter against Chinese missiles. That puts us back at Guam or Hawaii to fight an offensive war against the country that makes everything. It'd be lost from the first shot if the US is stupid enough to fire.

Officers can submit a request to resign their commission. That one marine who criticised the Afghanistan withdrawal to be a Fox News pundit publicly did that. There's just no guarantee that it will be accepted. If the military wants to punish you, and especially if they want to set an example with you, they can reject the request and proceed with a court martial to eject/imprison/execute.

I'd lean heavily toward the latter happening. We haven't had real punishment against deserters since like WW2, but given the gravity of the pandemic and how unfounded/propagandised antivaxxers are I can see them pursuing it as a huge threat to good order and discipline. GVAGUY3's parallel to the collapse of Rome represents a breakdown of the general chain of command. That's an existential threat to the entire military, let alone the physical one to its individual troops and assets.

I don't really think there will be a huge threat to order and discipline in the military. There will be a few crazies that might get an actual punishment, but I think most will just decide just to get the vaccine because they are too cowardly to face a punishment.

To me it points to a trend in the same way gang affiliation and MAGA shit does. They've got a dual allegiance and the other thing is in direct conflict with the needs of the military. The shit they're tapped into to make them antivaxxers isn't limited to specific well-grounded safety concerns or that vaccine in particular or vaccines in general. It's conspiracy theories about big brother trying to control you when you're supposed to be big brother operating the satellites. Eventually that manifests into not being able to deploy the military to protect the capitol because you can't guarantee that unit won't go rogue and defend the people storming it. With antivaxxers you're putting them in cramped quarters with people for months at a time, in many different places that have varying COVID responses. One of my naval hospitals covered most of an entire fleet and we had like six ICU beds. Two respiratory techs working in rotating shifts, two operating rooms, no cardiologist or mortician. Any outbreak on any ship in that AO would cripple the only hospitals they can rely on. Who knows what form that antivax sentiment will take as the mandates become more offensive, and everyone knows how they'll respond to every future crisis now.

The Canadians charged one of their officers with mutiny after he spoke at an antivax rally. The US is generally protective of its officers but they cut down people who go against the grain and Biden is finally using more aggressive language toward antivaxxers. Hopefully this walkout leads to some truly medieval UCMJustice.

It will be jokes as fuck. Critical support to antivaxxers for doing praxis socialists couldn't hope to without being killed by drones. An F-22 without a pilot is an F-22 that isn't committing terrorism somewhere.

Pretty sure we haven't used f22s for shit the majority of the time we've had them. I usually just see them flying around burning taxdollars to do cool tricks

I always saw them do that around Japan, apparently with the flight capabilities restricted so that they couldn't be deduced by all the people watching from the beach. I'm not sure what their actual value would be in a modern war, especially against an enemy whose entire coast is lined with missile batteries pointed at the airfields, but it's the capable modern fighter. F-35s are being hit by new issues in their hyper-delicate supply chains so we'd otherwise be stuck with F-18s from the 1990s.

Well the f22's radar profile was supposed to be its strong suite where when you detach the little radar ping ball on them they're supposed to be undetectable.

As an Air superiority plane they boast better maneuvering and sensors than the more common previous gen so they would be a decent craft for keeping enemy Air superiority planes out of their area of operation and a decent interceptor craft for yeeting multi-role or dedicated bomber planes.

The few times I saw them actually put on a show I was blown away with all the stupid shit you could make them do that would make an f-18 pilot green with envy like being able to have the entire f22 body completely vertical in the air and hover off the ground like a helicopter, or pull some of the tightest loops and turns that would pull all the blood from your brain to your feet.

They bombed Syria back when Russia had the SAMs there to test their stealth once. Otherwise they just do backflips at airshows and patrols of the airspace boarders

Yep, they also do interception missions up here whenever Russia sends over some planes to test our radar capabilities.

Absolutely doesn't surprise me. I remember when my pro-fascists high school made my entire class take a military test at the local National Guard center. Scored well enough that I was harassed by multiple branches for months. The Air Force's pitch was, "It's like playing a video game while defending your country." That was 15 years ago.

Proving that none of these chuds who bray about the rights and lives of the Taiwanese, people of Honk Kong, the Uyghurs, etc. don't actually care about those people's human rights or lives, they only care about the political advantage and sanctimonious gesturing that they allow them to do.

The first and smallest inconvenience to these chuds lives (literally just getting a shot) and they're ready to abandon these causes that are apparently so dire, ethically righteous, and worth starting a war over
