Pivot is when you turn something, to pivot a table is to flip it so all the horizontal parts go vertical and the vertical parts go horizontal.
That's so stupid, why would you do that? SQL has been around for like 50 years if you're at the point where it matters if your shit is sideways just use any actual database that supports a query language designed for the advanced operation you're trying to do
I take data out of SQL to pivot in Excel entirely because pivots in SQL are such a pain in the ass to write.
