He had been under police investigation over his alleged use of marijuana and other psychoactive drugs. Lee had been questioned three times by police, including for 19 hours over the weekend.

Police did their jobs it looks like.

Lee had been questioned three times by police, including for 19 hours over the weekend. The actor had said he was tricked into taking drugs by a bar hostess who then tried to blackmail him, Yonhap reported.

So instead of following up with the claim of him being drugged, they decide to lock him inside a room for a whole day and presumably threatened prison time and/or a damaged reputation, all while suspecting he was on mind altering drugs (which are known to fuck you up when you’re in a hostile headspace). Then he gets released and commits suicide

Seems like they got a smart bunch over there

Important to note: This story reads as uniquely American, so it makes complete and total sense why amerikkka views South Korea as the objectively good Korea

Normalize torture by state-sanctioned goons such that you can write about it in tabloid-like fashion
