I can't understand that. I presume you want universal health care, tuition free college, etc... etc... The way towards it is always forward. Get 100 Democratic senators. If there's still holdouts, primary them. I have no idea where this impulse of "I helped row the boat for a few hours and we're still not there, so I refuse to row any more" comes from. It's weird.
:maybe-later-kiddo: Just elect 100 Democratic senators and then we'll unlock FALGSC, kiddo.

I think there's an Xbox trophy for getting that one.
I love to row a boat forwards into a shining future by reading Esquire dot com and voting
These people assume that any effort adds up to do something greater. It's like a little kid pushing against a 5 ton boulder claiming that if a few of his classmates join in they will surely get it up the hill eventually.
Imagine how great everything would be if Dems controlled the WH, the House and had over 55 votes in the Senate. Too bad this hasn't happened yet in modern US history.
This is so exhausting. There will be two reactions to this, and both are on purpose. The fist will be comments on that post, libs discussing the necessity for political success of having no ideological commitments, and then slightly less wormy-brained people who will get very mad at Manchin and the dems, and even get mad that this article was printed, which will help the dems lose the house, senate or both in 2022, which I'm pretty sure they want.
If there's enough Democrats that Manchin doesn't matter, someone else will take the role of obstructionist with him. See Kyrsten Sinema.
And even if there wasn't (there shurely would be), what is the point of Joe Manchin being a Democrat if every policy is contingent on his vote not mattering? Makes no difference from having a Republican there.
It doesn’t matter if the Senate was entirely Democrats and one Republican. The party still would do fuck all.

manchin and sinema arent even the only ones, theyre just loud. democrats are glad theyre taking the heat, because they know they'd have to stick their neck out to fuck over their constituents themselves if theyre gone. if manchin and sinema were replaced, two more manchins would simply spawn.
ive literally brought this argument up to libs and they think its irrelevant because this was solely about the filibuster... 1) if we got rid of the filibuster, we wouldn't be in this mess, so its irrelevant 2) why would the filibuster be more sacred than the climate lol fuck you
For real. If I wanted primo job security and good pr while doing fuck all, I'd love Manchin.

These r/politics zombies are going to continue to dominate the American “left” for the next few decades and we are utterly fucked.
Time is on our side. The r/politics zombies have dominated the left in the US for at least 40 years, and their ideology is less and less popular with younger people than it was 10 or 20 years ago (srs).
at some point, being optimistic about the Democratic party is just being a nihilist but with a happy coat of paint over it.
