they know we need help and demand high pay, all these benefits an no flexibility

Wow, it’s almost as if all of bourgeoise economics is a giant fraud and capitalists will literally dispute its principles as unfair when power shifts even slightly in favor of workers. Huh.

All these workers are demanding high pay

Ad is for 12-14 an hour, implication obviously being that this is a 'high' wage

      :agony-immense:

They do exactly this. The more tyrannical petty bourgeoisie will claim to have worked hard to get the company off the ground or they lived in squalor for a few years. They'll also claim to take on all the financial risk if the company dies, somehow justifying their private use of my surplus value. It's all mythology and scams.

The ones with any functioning brain cells set up the corp as an LLC, which makes them only liable for debts and such to the extent of their financial contribution. Also easy to set up and relatively little cost, so if they're stupid enough to actually set an uncertain venture up as a partnership or sole proprietorship (where they would be liable for their share/ALL of the liabilities respectively), they deserve to lose it even more

All these people asked for $14/hr when I had that in mind for people who are borderline supervisor material with 15+ years experience. That's why it's a range, most people will fall more in the middle like $12.25

Oh I'm sorry, you want me to sell my labor for free? Fuck you.

The art gallery downtown is such a pay chaser. I am clearly entitled to their paintings yet they demand payment when I try to take them home with me!

Also I love "opened for two months, had to close for three months"

That's called business failure I think!

I got called a pay chaser when I applied to manage a local gas station

Was pretty funny when I was like "Actually, I had to move a bunch of times because my housing situation got messed up and I spent some time watching a sick relative, it's not my fault I managed to parley my skills into better positions that paid more"

They offered me the job, but I already had gotten a better offer by the time that happened

Felt real good telling them to shove it

These people just want to own other people.

Ha. At this point, I doubt they'd even like that arrangement. They want to socialize the costs and privatize the profits, even up to the point of managing the plantation itself. Not a coincidence that neoliberal states keep devolving into civil strife. We keep trying to lock people into prisons, then defunding the bureaucracy that's supposed to manage it.

does anyone outside trans circles even use the term chaser derogatorily? like you just know they heard this term cause they, or someone they know, got called a chaser and they got mad about it so they started trying to call other people chasers.

'Ambulance chaser' is a term that has been around for a while to describe lawyers that seek out recently injured people in hopes of getting them to file a lawsuit of some nature. Don't know if it predates what you're describing though

No, in fact I'm quite positive that didn't happen, actually.

I'm not working 7am to 7pm by myself

Business owners these days are lazy and entitled. They should spend less money on lattes and avocado toast and pay their workers more.

What do they even mean by "pay chaser"? Do they think I should be passionate about shit like spreadsheets if I'm an accountant?

They demand you pretend to be passionate about it. There's a ton of taboos around wage labour. One of them is that you can't be honest about the paycheck being the thing that makes you go to work every day.

There are so many weird rituals involved in wage labor that I assume exist to smooth over or obfuscate the direct reality of exploitation. Cover letters, dress codes, business cards, having a "go-getter" attitude, I hate all of it. I just want these bourgeois swine to hire me, give me money, and shut up

These are the type of business owners who act like they're doing you a huge favor by paying a dollar or two over minimum wage. Like you owe them extra cause they're doing you such a good solid. You can work split shifts and be on call 24/7 cause you're so buddy buddy with the owner cause of how nice they are.

I worked for someone like that and it was miserable. Constantly tried and sometimes succeeded in committing wage theft in various ways. It was always only 10 minutes to help them real quick after clocking out. Or "its down the street, can you pick this thing up that I should be doing myself but I'm just soooo busy sitting in the office."
