Like if the libs fantasy comes true what are they trying to do exactly? Put Trump in jail? Do they realize how that would look to half the country?

I'd imagine it's an excuse to throw more money at cops while also trying to demonize MAGA as being insurrectionists. Blue check PMC bozos on twitter think Trump is going to jail but actual lawmakers know that no president sitting or former will ever see time behind bars. If we didn't put Bush Jr. in the hague for war crimes, what makes people think Trump is going to jail for his piggies rioting on the capitol?

It’s a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie

Precisely. We have two wings of capital that both serve the bourgeois. So long as this power system remains in tact, like :DaBiden: said, "nothing will fundamentally change".

The libs get to smugly know they were right. That’s literally all they want, and all they’ll get. That, or they’ll instantly forget about it upon losing and move on to the next thing.

Am I the only who sees a anti terrorism/insurrection bill in the future, seems like a perfect move for the ruling class to crack down on blm while maintaining the illusion of not being throwing more money at the police state

I think this is our worst case and most likely scenario. The Republicans will insist that the bill includes language targeting extreme leftists and the dems will give it to them

It's already happing in :england-cool: , so it's gonna happen here, in the same way (kid gloves for anti-choice, "Patriots", etc., crushing jail time for environmentalists, anti-police, anti-war, etc). Just wait until we heat up with China/Russia, and the "free speech zones" from the Iraq War era will seem quaint.

Personally, that’s exactly what I think should happen. January 6th was an attempted far right coup – It was a very clumsy, bad, and honestly hilarious attempt at one, but it was still an attempt. If the US wants to claim to have any sort of democracy at all, you should probably arrest people who attempt coups.

But also that’s never going to fucking happen, the US has an insanely long history of letting presidents, or just powerful people in general, get away with murder. From Nixon being pardoned, to Bush and company not being tried for the Iraq war and the banking crisis, all the way back to Robert E Lee getting to be rich and be president of an incredibly cursed university after literally leading a war against the US.

Democrats have had very little catharsis, so I think they are living that out. It reassures them that the process is getting the bad guys they were pooping pants over, which means there isn't systemic problems only bad people they can vote out. It'll be a long drawn out and vexing process which ultimately leads nowhere. That means the villains get to survive until the next episode.

Were the Democrats not owned opposition, it would be stripping people they don’t like of the ability to hold public office/work with the government.

What will happen is making protests illegal.

Meh. What are we protesting? I seem to remember Gov DeSantis signing the "Protester Hit And Run Act" in Florida just before thousands of guasanos shut down Miami over Cuba still being Communist. I don't think for a single second that a Pro-Life parade or Tea Party rally running through the center of downtown Houston wouldn't receive the full support of the state.

Can't keep impeaching proceedings against Trump to generate excitement/outlet for the Dem party loyalists, so they've gotta beat this dead horse instead.

I think there's probably a more dangerous republican that could run. The next republican candidate knows they have to dial the trump up to 11. Imagine president a Desantis or something.

I’m from Florida and DeSantis scares the absolute shit out of me. That man is a dangerous fucking lunatic and would be so much worse than Trump.

Trump’s a moron, DeSantis is a calculated, committed, ideological fascist. It’s fucking terrifying to me that there’s a very large group of people who actively like and support him. I’m pretty sure if there’s a current US politician that would be the one to put leftists in camps, he’s the one.

And I don’t even understand why people like him either. Trump’s likable in a weird disgusting way, like, he has an extravagant personality and is funny. DeSantis is one of the creepiest, grossest ghouls I’ve ever seen, and I’m pretty sure his idea of comedy is watching the light go out of a poor person’s eyes as they die from covid.

If DeSantis becomes President I will genuinely be thinking about how I can get the fuck out of this sinking ship before I end up dying in a concentration camp in fucking Orlando

I'm not fully convinced of this because just about every politician is captured by an individual desire to make money, get in the good graces of the bourgeoisie, get book deals, have a career. That kind of stuff. That's why Trump had basically no support in Washington to overthrow the election, because these people want jobs. Trump was different because he gave red meat to the hogs and acted as cover for the most bloodthirsty aspects of American empire. He wasn't viewed as captured, despite essentially acting as a doofus they would move from room to room so a entirely standard Republican administration could be carried out.

What's far more likely to me is the republicans will run someone so devoid of any personality of their own they'll do whatever's asked of them. It's why they stuck Mike Pence with Trump.

Nothing. They have to know that neither Trump nor any member of congress who participated will ever have any consequences. They just like having a thing to feel self righteous about.

I don't think there was a long-term goal by Dems other than to run on how Trump, and by extension his supporters, disrespected sacred symbols of American democracy. Intelligence might have other goals but they always do. Whatever militaristic response is just Dems realizing that someone could have unalived them.

It was the used-car dealership owner and jetski emporium version of The Brooks Brothers Riot. Petit bourgeois is infighting with international capital, or big bourgeois. Expect this to continue.

It's just the standard treatment of The Other by the establishment ingroup. To find out what will happen just look to history.

To a lot of people, it grates to have to pretend to like America - but now, they get to fully embrace that identity and shout at the people who identify as Americans. It's the same thing as "Hamilton", a chance to spike the football in the face of their enemies.
