Literally the least that could be done is too much for these people.

I find it incredible that I can read report after report about the bill and people saying they will or won't pass the bill, and not have a single bill detail or critique of the contents of the bill anywhere. The media is filling these articles with no information.

They're purposefully hiding what's in the bill - massive reductions in child poverty and meaningful climate action, both of which are supported by voters - for a reason. They want you focused on either the price tag or the palace intrigue around if it passes.

There was a poll showing that most voters don't know what the child tax credit is, and if they did, most of them didn't support it, because why should my single-tax-dollars go to help children not starve? I don't have kids. We are a deeply selfish and conservative nation.

e: Heart-breaking, the worst person you know, etc. I couldn't find the one that asked if they were aware what the CTC is and had like 40% of people receiving it not know what it was.

"but isn't it problematic because while it reduces child poverty, it also lowers the natal income floor?"

          :sadness-abysmal:

How are the stakes high if he's just going to tank the bill anyway?

how can you "get the job done" without the money in the bill??? genuinely bewildering statement

It seems like it was supposed to be a typical red-herring deflection, but it doesn't work because it's talking about the same thing. So instead of "I'm not worried that my car won't start, because there's plenty of stuff to work on around the house anyway" it's like "I'm not worried that my car won't start, because I'm busy focusing on driving to work on time."

Stakes are too high to get any work done. Maybe next year. :maybe-later-kiddo:

Wait literally what does that even mean taken at face value?

If the stakes are so high, that means actually doing something is important right?

So the better option is do nothing? WTF?

The stakes are high, because if we don’t vote on this now and it continues to be a news story after the holidays, there will continue to be pressure for this bill to pass rather than it being forgotten by the general public and base

Kamala would be cooler if she rolled up magazines and beat Manchin with them.

People might expect democrats to start doing good things if they don't keep encouraging Manchin to block everything. The stakes are too high to stop him

The stakes are too high to do anything and risk it all now that they are so close to wrestle defeat from the jaws of victory.

What are the stakes? Invitations to the next wine party?

just like kill Manchin. Just like flat out politically assasinate him. No one would blink an eye of he was "suicided".
