An undying curse has been cast upon a bodily husk and I have been tasked by cruelty of fate with Divine Star Trek Takes. Meeting perfection, I encounter an abyss of irrelevance and a void of dark cruelty. The only balm: the worst Star Trek takes and absurd headcanon that Hexbear can muster. Please, you are my only hope.

Okay so. You know how we are on the cusp of implants that can control computers etc but in star trek they have if anything less advanced mundane stuff (comms pads etc) than we do now? That's because like many other spacefaring civilizations, they had a fair few accidents generating something like the borg when it came to merging machine and sapient life and put the brakes on that sort of shit sharphish.

    Second Example of Perfect Take:

I reject the idea that Starfleet is a purely military organization - to think such a thing is absurd.

Ezri Dax is cool and good and even though no one can replace Jadzia she still brought some interesting stuff to the last season (except the stuff between her and Bashir).

Also until Season 4 of Voyager, Harry Kim didn't know how to pee by himself.

Despite achieving the rank of Commander in the final TNG season, I feel like Dianna would be terrible at said roll/manning the bridge. Also, why the hell isn't data that rank? Shouldn't he be able to pass such a test to gain full commander rank like that really easily? Or does he not, because doing so would somehow mean he would be stationed on another ship? If that's the reason, it seems dumb that the ship's councelor or Dr (despite my belief that Beverly would be/is a good commander/bridge officer) can be a commander, yet remain on the same ship, the excuse being "oh, well it's not their real job though, so it's ok."

Also, on an unrelated note, The Prime Directive in is kinda bullshit. I mean, the idea that just because interference with a culture/planet COULD lead to exploitation/harm means no interference should EVER be taken, even when it would do only good, is a stupid absolute. It absolves the crew/captain/federation of the work of case by case ethical interrogation of situations and alien interactions by the alternative of wholesale negligence to other's plights under the guise of an unbreakable rule.

(I only just recently finished TNG and started DS9, so sorry if either of these things are addressed in later ST media)

"Sub Rosa" is a work of art. Sexy Gothic ghost stories ftw.

"The Inner Light" is so unbelievably overrated. We get it, Picard is more interesting when he's someone else.

    First Example of Perfect Take:

The conflict between Kirk and the sweet smelling energy being was inevitable because the energy being was psychically connected with Kirk and represented the darkest reflection of his own insecurities.
