This is the rationale behind both the allies' and axis' campaign of terror bombings against each other throughout the war. The whole idea really is to spread mass suffering among the enemy population, to either demoralize them or straight up kill as many civilians as possible.

Sanctions is just liberal terror bombing. Mass starvation and social collapse to break the enemy's (working class) will is the whole idea.

It's also Bin ladens argument for 9/11, so it's good to see bipartisanship in action.

Just like terror bombings, sanctions also don't work as far as instigating regime change/civilian uprisings/hurting morale.

Ah yes, give people an ultimatum and threats. I'm sure people will cooperate when you threaten them and their families.

Sanctions are famously successful, like how we now have an ultra-capitalist utopia in Vuvuzela, or like how Iraq overthrew Saddam and instated the greatest democracy the world has ever known, or how Iranians' response to sanctions was 'you know, those Western imperialists and colonialists are alright', or how North Korea became the second greatest democracy in the world.

Oh yeah sanctions have a proven track record of success, can't imagine why anyone would think otherwise.

    MEANWHILE IN THE REAL WORLD.....

It was real. I'd seen it. I'd seen it in reality.

The mask of humanity fall from capital. It has to take it off to kill everyone .

It has to take it off, just for one second. To do the deed.

Neo liberals in government know it doesn't work. The purpose is for all the rich people to buy a bunch of domestic stocks so that when say, Russian oil is banned they'll make a killing in domestic oil. It's second purpose is to decouple our economies so we can invade them without long term harm to ourselves

Gas is almost $5/gallon by me, I’d say we’re already there. And the US isn’t even allowed to export oil.

The ban on US exports of oil was lifted in 2015. In 2021 the US was the largest producer of oil in the world and a net exporter of both refined petroleum products and crude. The US is about 91% energy independent. This overnight 60% increase in gas prices is pure price gouging based on a fiction.

These people have lived through the same last 20 years I have and at no point picked up on the stuff America does abroad.

Similarly, that means 9-11 was totally justified since Bush had favorables in the 50s (making that number up but the argument is still valid).

this is the exact justification Bin Laden used for 9/11. Honestly America creates Putin and Bin Laden and wonders where they learned to think like this

basically is the reason the soviet union and communist china sprung up, economic blockade by foreign powers

and thats really the ultimate conundrum for communists. at what point is it too much, at what point are you willing to risk the lives of your family, friends, or if theyre already dead due to imperialism, yourself, to make life better?

ultimately this question just ends up answering itself. around the time the average life expectancy is 30, historically speaking
